Golf cart for snowbirds?

I mounted a 2” receive to the bumper of our TT. The purpose was to use it to mount a bike carrier. What are good quality bike carriers to buy? We have 5 bikes to carry but I’m not sure the bumper can handle that kind of weight. If we still had to keep a couple bikes in the back of the truck that would be ok too.

A Swagman 4 bike 64665 looks like a good option. $460

I don’t think I’d trust a bumper hitch with even 1 bike. We’ve carried bikes behind our TT and did it in a custom
made receiver hitch that was welded below the bumper.

The current 5th wheel has a hitch too, but we haven’t put a bike rack on it yet.

I need to find my notes, but there are only a couple bike racks rated for RV use. The one we used was not.

I tried a couple of racks before settling on the Hollywood rack after I saw it at a campsite where I was staying. Amazon product ASIN B000QJC4AY Only holds 4 bikes, but it is very sturdy, and I would recommend this rack. I also added a receiver hitch to the back of my camper trailer (https://www.etrailer.com/RV-and-Camper-Hitch/Curt/13703.html) that was a PITA to install due to having to drill holes in the frame and then fish the nuts through the holes, but it has held up well since I put in on in 2017. Much more sturdy than the bumper mount I used to have. I also added a 10" rise hitch adapter to raise the height in the back to keep the rack from hitting when I pull out of my driveway.

Agreed. Typical bumpers just can't support that weight.

Here is how I carried bikes when towing my TT. Rear of a Trailer is a pretty sure way to arrive without one's bikes.

Why is it a pretty sure way?

Thousands of miles with them back there and they always arrived where they started, and many of those miles were on rough forest service roads.

Maybe if relying on a bumper mount? I swear I thought mine would break off! With the new hitch and rack, many thousands of miles and no issues at all (well, we did lose a bike seat somewhere in SD - but that is because my daughter forgot to tighten it after adjusting it).

I can't find an exact picture, but when I had a TT I built a bike a 4 bike rack out of 1 1/2 inch PVC. It was very sturdy. If you Google PVC bike racks the pictures and instructions will show up. Just a thought.
