Thanks FTWardoch. Appears those mach 1's are 65HP as opposed to the RV275 at around 40HP. So seems I shouldn't have any issue.

In regard to the Trans Controllers so far from what I've read is their usage in conjunction with an exhaust brakes, don't know if i can use one without the brake, or if it would even make much of a difference being in 3rd gear lockup going down a hill.

Is this what they call Hijacking my own thread?

You can play around with the cruise control, setting it just before you crest a hill, and it will keep the TC locked going down the other side. You will find that the Cummins does not provide much hold back on it's own. SNOKING

Ooohh... Very interesting, I'll have to try that. Unfortunately It's only good once per hill... once you apply brake the cruise turns off and lockup is gone.

Thanks again to all who responded.

No, if you hit resume, it will come back on. BUT this is not much holdback, as there is not throttle plate to restrict the air into the engine. That is what an exhaust brake does, it does not let the air out of the engine. SNOKING

ok... I thought there was something to cresting the top of the hill under light throttle and then kicking on the cruise while it was already locked. Yeah... I'm sure there will be negligile improvement in hold back. was just curious.

I read some of these articles on trans controllers that the trans heats up when not locked in going down long grades due to the slippage. I've not really encountered that. My trans is just happy to be going down hill! Actually it's been ton's better since the Goerend Bro's TC and VB. I do ok with 3rd, Maybe it's second gear that heat them up on the downside.

As far as keepin your truck in lockup while goin down hill it can be done for less that $5! You can tap into your lockup solenoid and run a toggle switch in the cab! Works great on my 02' You have complete control of lock up in 2nd, 3rd, and OD, It will not go into lockup in first though!

Does it lock up in 2nd? Get some pretty high trans temps (up to ~230) pulling my trailer up some of our slow steep hills here.

Sure does! On the firewall behind your air filter there are three harnesses, in the middle harness there is an orange wire with a black stripe. Tee into that wire, run to toggle switch in cab, then to ground! There is a transmission relay in your fuse panel (under hood) you need to remove and put a jumper wire in! Thats it!

I could have used that a time or two! i read about that, as I recall, you just have to be carefull to flip the switch off before the transmission shifts... locked shifts are kinda hard on stuff.

yah... and dont forget to turn it off before coming to a stop! The minivan in front of you might not appreciate it!#@$%!
