So what's anyone's opinion on upgrading to the rv275 injectors with my stock HY turbo (01. 5, automatic) J-hooked to around 26psi, with a 75hp Tuner(dare I say whose? Hey, it works good for me) and boost fooler.

I was once told that before I go to injectors I should upgrade the turbo, otherwise my EGT's are going to get too high. ???

Thoughts?

Thanks

Darren

You have a pyro. give it a try. You can control egt's with your right foot. Check the classifies. I bet you cold get an HX 35 pretty cheap.

Darren,

I ran pretty much that combo for quite a while... and that turbo setup came out of the gate quick... . but once I did the HX35 upgrade, I didn't really notice any more lag, but it sure hit's hard when it spools... and EGT's are very controllable...

Fortunately the tuner helps control EGT's, but I'm particularly concerned about towing long Colorado grades, throwing more fuel in than the turbo can handle and essentially hindering performance. Not sure if that's valid thinking or not.

I have to be in in hard for quite a long time with my smarty on SW3 and the jammer3's to go over 1300F. I don't use the banks towing.

I'm quite surprised how good my EGT's are with 342HP at the wheels towing:D:D

I ran a HY J hooked, Jammer 1's and Comp in EZ mode for quite a while towing a 12K 5er. Had to watch the pyro on big hills, but it towed good. This was with intake and 4" exhaust.

I switched to a PDR35-12W and it pulls even better, allowing me to use more of the available power. Find a used HX35 and ship it to PDR, they will make it a PDR35 for a reasonable cost. I went this route because of my Banks Exhaust Brake. I did switch back to stock intake becasue of the noise from the BHAF.

Thanks all, I haven't heard any major drawbacks as of yet. Once I get the injectors in there I might turn up the J-hook(about 26psi now) a little more to about 30 psi on the HY. From what I've read, that's about the max the it can reasonably do.

Didn't really want to get into a different turbo but... . who know when the upgrades will stop! :)

I think turning the HY up more than you have it will just create heat!!! Leave it alone. Put the injectors in and save for a PDR35. Do you have the Banks 4" turbo elbow? It will work with the HX35/PDR35 also. That's why I went with the HX-PDR35 turbo, as I have a Banks 4" exhaust brake. SNOKING

When I put the exhaust in I wondered about the 4" elbow but never saw anything that really indicated it was necessary despite it being the last restriction in the system. Now that I'm upgrading to a little heavier camper and with a heavy trailer load behind, I'm going to wish I had an Exhaust brake! Something else to put on the list.

Thanks!

I am running RV275's with pretty much the same setup as you and don't have trouble with EGT's. I do need to take it easy because of the still stock transmission. On rare occassions I have seen over 1300 degrees but normally pulling hills at around 1200.

Like SNOKING, I'm running a Banks Brake. It's wonderful. I have mine mounted to a Dodgezilla which has a slightly larger compressor wheel than a PDR.

those exhaust brakes make use of transmission controller to keep the torque converter locked up don't they? I'd like to have a controller so that I can take overdrive off when going down hill and keep the TC locked in.

I have the DTT smart controller to do that. I also had my transmission completely built for towing. That was at only 30,000 miles on the clock. But having a good transmission is like night and day to a stock one.

Not cheap! Not a happy wife! But a truck that really can do the job towing a 12K plus trailer.

The Banks brake is controlled by the ECU and includes a warm up feature. DTT also fixes the transmission for lock up in second gear. At 8 percent plus, I use second going down. Do not have to use service brakes very offen on mountain passes.

I'm running Mach 1. 0's, a Smarty and a Drag Comp with my HY and even pulling a tent trailer over Mt Hood have never gotten the temps over 1200... ... ... ... ... . now that's not on 5x5 but the Smarty was on 8 and the DC was 3x3. No issues here and throttle response/spool up is awesome.

I imagine it wouldn't do so good on the 1/4 mile track tho... ... ..... - might just run out of air and get toasty but that's not what I'm into.

Thanks FTWardoch. Appears those mach 1's are 65HP as opposed to the RV275 at around 40HP. So seems I shouldn't have any issue.

In regard to the Trans Controllers so far from what I've read is their usage in conjunction with an exhaust brakes, don't know if i can use one without the brake, or if it would even make much of a difference being in 3rd gear lockup going down a hill.

Is this what they call Hijacking my own thread?

Run the **** out of those 275's... ..... you will be fine.
I have seen folks much bigger on that little charger and be fine with a bit of self-control.
