I have flushed the system with new fluid, verified fluid level, and have pulled and cleaned (with contact cleaner) the rear differential sensor.

Have not replaced the sensor.

Going out to do the "key on and ground pin # 13".

Ok, try turning the key on/off three times. That should make it flash the engine light at you. It will flash a short number, like 2 or 3, then pause, then flash another number of blinks, like 5-9... . that's the code... . 25, or 49, whatever... that's the DTC stored.

On then Off 3 times; nothing.

Then,

On then Off 3 times, then back on.

Check engine light flashed 5 times, pause, then 5 times.

Verified it a second time.

That's code 55, right?

Just googled it, 5 5 means no code.

I get the ABS and BRAKE lamps coming on at all different times, sometimes just one or the other, they'll go off whenever.

I'm at a loss.

WT... . ? Well, at this point, I'm gonna say your ABS speed sensor or vacuum sensor is working intermittently, or getting a ground signal intermittently... . The rear sensor is around $40 at Orielly's... . I think the vacuum sensor has to come from Dodge, if available... . I don't know if anyone has it available aftermarket..... it might could be wired around... . ? I got one coming in this afternoon, I'll try to look at it and see if it's two wires.

When I had ABS issues on my '98 the ON-OFF 3 times only showed engine codes, not ABS codes. Grounding pin 13 will flash the ABS light in a code. Sometimes the ABS problems is fixed by topping off the brake fluid even if it's above minimum.

No hijack, here, the truck sold, so it's all about your truck, now... . but if you want it in your thread, that's fine, too... You know, now that you mention it, I'm not sure if the codes should be displayed in the PCM... it's an early '96 with OBD, unlike a '98 with OBDII, which can easily be read with just about any scan tool.....

Anyway, after going back and looking at the trouble codes available, I didn't see any ABS codes..... hmmmmm... .
