#1 I have a 1993 W250 and the RWAL warning brake light came on. According to the manual, to determine the fault code, momentarily ground the RWAL diagnostic connector and count the number of flashes. I cannot find the connector which is supposed to be under the dash next to the hood release. Is there another port I can use for diagnostics?

#2 Since I cannot find the diagnostic port I was going to replace the RWAL valve. The brakes still work but the wife is a little worried that the brakes are not good. I tried a few places and everyone uses Cardone. They are moving and will be out of re-manufacturing for at least 8 weeks. Does anyone have any other sources? I tried NAPA, O'Reilly's, and Rock Auto.

I don't know of anyone that would offer remaned units, although I personally don't believe that anything built by cardone is worth buying. On my truck I bypassed the ABS valve from the hydraulic system and have been running without ABS for years without issues

Rockauto had replacement rear ABS units a few months ago...the ABS unit is nothing that the DIY guy can service because of the way they are assembled.

The diagnostic ground wire is behind the glove box. Found that out on a youtube video while I was researching my problem. Just open it up and press down on the plastic thing behind the latch, and the whole door will lower down more than normal. The ABS control module is mounted on the firewall back there. There will be a long black wire hanging down off the wiring harness for the ABS module, with a plastic connector on the end. Inside that connector is a single prong. Just ground that and you should be able to read any codes by counting the flashes of the ABS light, as outlined in the pretty much useless FSM. How did people fix anything before the internet lol. These FSMs don't give you nearly enough information. I bought a set thinking it'd be a wealth of information, but they are really useless. I have found much more useful info on forums and youtube than in there. They are still nice to have for the wiring diagrams though, and general info on how the various systems work.

The technicians had other training, the FSM was a guide.
