How do you like the Cummins 600...

I am looking to upgrade my truck, in order to enhance fuel mileage, performance and towing capabilities.

Currently, my truck is in stock form and is a 2003 6 spd. 3500 dually 4x4.

The fifth wheel weighs in around 12,000 dry and has a GVWR of 17,000, which I approach once all the dirt bikes and gear are loaded.

I am looking to upgrade my:

Air filter

Exhaust to 4"

Turbo

Some chip, box - 6 gun, EZ etc.

Exhaust brake

Gauges

After reading through many posts I have some preliminary thoughts.

I really like the AFE Pro Guard 7, for my intake upgrade.

I like the 2003 Dodge Aeroturbine exhaust kit, for my exhaust upgrade.

I am thinking about a TAG, for my turbo mod.

I do not have a choice on a box yet.

I would like a Jacobs exhaust brake.

I like the Di-Pricol white boost and EGT gauges, mounted on the duel steering wheel mount.

My questions are:

Will all these items work well together, Jakebreak etc?

Do I really need a turbo mod at all and is a TAG enough?

Which box would you recommend for my application? I have concerns about fuel rail pressure etc.

Thanks for any input.

With a mild box the factory turbo is probably OK and the TAG will be fine. Keep an eye on the EGT gauge. If you even think you might want injectors, you will need some type of turbo upgrade besides the TAG. I don't see any reason that combo won't work.

All of that works for me. One of the van Aaken boxes would work quiet well for towing. I found the Aeroturbine to be a bit LOUD under a load, but the addition of a straight through louvered muffler tamed that.

Vasta,

Take a look at DLeno's fueling box summary. He shows the function the boxes and some of the dyno results.

There are a few boxes made that do NOT boost rail pressure.

Towed this Memorial day weekend for first time with TST box and all I can say is UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone here is familiar with hwy50 from Sacramento to South Lake Tahoe, I cruised up at any speed I wanted! Hit 85 in a couple spots on passing lanes. Damn cars were slowing me down

P. S. I am towing 30' 5th wheel 10500lbs

how were your egts? I can't keep mine down with the ez. I have no problems with power but can approach 1400 degrees pretty quickly.

Egt's in 5th higher than 6th for me. In 5th can hit 1600+ quick around 2500 rpms, but pull in 6th and takes a while to hit 1300. Love my aeoturbine and edge. Pulls my 13k # 5er like it ain't there! Tag is great, do a search if curious. If you get an aeroturbine make sure you mount it right. i mounted it by the transfercase. I heard a rumor that the boost fitting isn't good for these trucks because of the effiency level of the turbo or something.
