Going east from where I live is a hill that goes from 4000ft to 9000ft with a lot of low speed switch backs. Going up it with the OD locked out the TC will lock up in 3rd. I have to stay above 25mph on the curves to keep the TC locked, but the mileage jumps from about 16mpg to over 20mpg. Towards the top I can run in 4th with the TC locked, but if I don't let up on it to push the button, it does some pretty weird things.
Coming down I'll hit the top about 50mph, let off of it to unlock the TC and push the lock out. The shift is smooth. Seems as though if I don't let up on it (going up or down) the transmission gets confused for a second or two.
My BHAF definately helps on the hold back coming down off this hill.
Since we do our fishing on the top, I go up and down it a lot, and at 50,000 miles I still had 50% of my front brake pads left.
Hope this helps.
