Jeepit,

It must be because a different model year or that I have the Infinity sound system. The mount is a little tough to find on their site. Anyone else looking, search under "vehicle specific mount".

To thoughs who installed the Antenna,

Where did you exit the vehicle at with the wire/cable at? I went through the top of the club cab rear window, but I noticed a little water running down the window when I was washing it this weekend. I thought that soft rubber would be pliable enough to seal out the water, but I was wrong.

I went from the drivers side top front of cab down the weatherstripping of windshield on drivers side. Then over to door weatherstripping and stopped about where the fuse box door is on dash, then over the weatherstripping, under the dash and to unit itself.

I have had XM in my truck for several years now and it works very well. I just got the xm2go receiver so I can listen to it on the motorcycle.

XM radio is the best thing since sliced bread :)

I switched from the earliest design (Sony) to a Roady2 and that works much better, since the unit + antenna are smaller. It fits perfect into the cupholderslide on the older Cummins and I've got mine plugged directly into the Ipod thingie on the head unit (aftermarket), so there's no interference with FM and I can move the Roady2 between vehicles :)

I'm new to the satellite radio thing and I was wondering about the programming? I've got the free Sirius deal with my '06 and would like to listen to the NASCAR races. I can't find any info on their web site. Sure would be nice to hear the race while I'm on the road Sunday.

Dual EE I can't believe you are listining to Cyndy Lauper. This may be cause for temporaly suspending your TDR membership. Sigh . It must be your wife, girlfriend must have been in the truck with you. Do you also go to a tanning salon? Please! tell me this was not your choice of music.

I think NASCAR is moving over to Sirius next season ('07). I believe it is now on XM. I personally have Sirius and hardly use my terrestrial radio anymore. Direct connection no FM modulation, antenna comes in through the third brake light and a little silicone to prevent leaks.

My unit is mounted to the floor console in front of my stick shift.

I have had sirus and XM and like XM better. I do wish XM had Howard. I went with the new head unit with the controls already built in. Only downside is that it cant be moved but it is very clean mount with no extra boxes.

Chuckie,

Cyndy Lauper, Boy George, Wham, Debbi Gibson, rap and Chicago are totally awesome. What's wrong w/ a tan?... ... ... ... NOT!!!

I do listen to some of the 80's, country, Raw Dog and the Hair Nation. Cyndi Lauper just happen to be on when I took the photos. Please don't suspend my TDR membership. I promise to change.

You know when I took the pictures and I saw who was on them I wondered if someone would give me crap. I'm glad at least one of you was paying attention and watching out for me. Thanks Chuckie.

i love my sirius radio. i got it for christmas. howard is ok, but there is a lot of other things to listen to. here is how i mounted mine. i use the fm modulator. you dont need the antenna. in the instructions it said use if needed for better reception. you can pick mine up 3 car lengths away. there is minimal blocking of the rear view. but not much. i also like the portability. i can move it from the truck to the house and use it at work in the boombox.

WTFD, that is a pretty slick mount, something that I was envisioning. Did you make it or is purchase it? If you purchased the mount, from where? etc.

Thanks for all the info and pics guys, I'm sold on Satellite Radio only problem is which one? Oh well, if that is my only problem then I guess things are good, LOL

Thanks

PS keep the pics and suggestions coming, I'm open to any option until it is installed!

it actually came with the unit. i first got a different sportster unit. it wasnt the "replay" version i have now. and that is the one it came with. the unit was like 79. 99 at radio shack. when i got it, it had a $50 mail in rebate. so it was only about $30. the replay was 150 - 50 mir. it came with a suction cup mount that i put in the wifes car. i like it. oh yes, i just ran the antenna out the third brake light, and powered the unit from my a-pillar gauges. really easy install.

elandon, i dont like everything he says or does. but for the most part i laugh my rear off. i like the prank call bits that Ned does. i do like the music channels. there always seems to be something good on. no matter what type of music you like.

OK guys, thanks for all the info. I picked up a Starmate Sirius receiver kit the other day and I'm gonna install either wednesday or thursday. I have a couple of quick questions.

1) Is the third brake light the easiest place to run the antenea wire into the cab? Is there a hole already behind it to get the wire in, or do I have to drill a hole? Does the light seal back over the wire tightly or does it have to be sealed with something to keep water out? Is there a better place to mount the antenea or run the wire?

2) Is the headliner glued to the underside of the roof, or is it just held on by fastners? Is there enough room/slack in the linder to run a fish tape back to the third brake light to pull the antenea wire forward?or does it have to be removed?

Thanks again for the info/pics/suggestions.

i ran my antenna without pulling the headliner. i was able to put it over the headliner by pulling the rubber seals back a little bit. i notched the third brake light just a little bit and then sealed it with silicone just to make sure. only took me about 15 minutes. hope this helps.

Cool thanks guys. Its going in tommorrow, got a late call today at work and was over 2 hours, gotta sleep before I go to side job.

I'll let you know how it goes and maybe will try my hand at posting a Pic too.

Thanks again
