I know the Sirrius units ar MUCH larger then the xm's

NOT. I have a STARMATE Sirius streamer. Its about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It comes with a mount for windshield or as I discovered will mount to a microphone clip like the one for a CB radio. :-laf I got this in addition to the head unit which came in the truck. 1/2 price for second subscription. I like the unit in the truck, steering wheel controls, etc. But the portable unit is good to take in the house, wife's car, even to listen to thru a portable Boom box. Also the Starmate has the song title, artists name which is not displayed on the MUCH more expensive factory head unit.

I agree with Thunderbolt about size. I got the Starmate Replay for Sirius and it is half the size of my cell phone.

Quick anntena mount ?

I was looking at truck today and had an idea. Mount antenna on driverside front of cab. Run the wire down the windshield weather stripping like Jeepit (i think) said. But then into engine bay and through firewall gromet to under the dash and then the unit.

Any problems with this? Any problems with damage or reception with mounting on front of cab vs rear/middle (third brake light entry)?

Thanks guys in advance and for all the info.

i wouldnt think there would be any problems mounting it up front. i have seen people do that. just so long as it has a view of the sky. i once saw a guy who just set the antenna on the dashboard. he didnt have any problem.

Radio is in and up and running. This thing is pretty cool. INstall was pretty easy, used a mount from Crutchfield that mounts Sirius unit below my head unit. I wired my Sirius into my Aux input for the head unit, ran the antena thru the third brake light for a nice clean install.

Originally thought about mounting antena on driver front of cab, but did not like that you could see it and that it was more easily accessable to thieves/vandals.

Install took a total of about 1. 5 hours to mount and run everything, but I work slow and do a lot of looking at things before I acutally do it. Activation took all of about 2 minutes of ording on Sirius website.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions from all,

I just got in on your thread. I have pictures of xm in dash under my readers rigs if anyone is still looking.

Hoagie :-laf

I bought a Sirius Starmate for the better half (just gotta get Howard!!) and have had good luck in our cars, also have the house adapter which works great - we have hard patched into our surround sound. We found with a small ext antenna can also lift enough FM signal to receive on other house radios!
