Got to play the role of an old lady today. Man that bus is a lame pup. It simply can't get out of the way of it's own tail.

A modified fuel plate and injectors will likely help. It don't help that most the older Cummins units are equipped w/a very weak slipper TC as opposed to the ISB engine and lock-up.

It was interesting to note that I could feel the engine defuel around 60 MPH. I just hold the accelerator to the floor and drive, let the gov do it's thing. Last time I tried that in my truck I wet myself.

Wife has an aunt that does that... . you need a towel for the seat... and a supply of depends.

My 89 "bus" came from the factory with cruise control. Somebody must of had a sense of humor. The throttle cable would be streched wide all the time. It was disconnected when I got it but I can't imagine a situation where it was useful. Maybe on a dead level strech 1,000miles long.

Locking T/C would be a good upgrade for mine.

:-laf:-laf

That is IF I had any ability... .

Beam me down Scotty... . no real life up here... .

Yes Pete, you are correct... ... . I am one twisted pupOo.

However... . being serious now..... one of these days soon I will have an 89 cyl head up for grabs at a decent price..... I plan on replacing the one on the 89 "boat project" engine (100 k miles) with a modern 7 mm version.

an on another related note... ... I was into VW diesels at one point..... it was very common for them to develop cracks in the cyl head... . easily repaired... but the only real problem they had with cracks was maybe a little more difficulty starting (a few extra cranks)... . esp when cold.

Once running they were fine.

I had a nonIC 91 and ran it with cracks between the valve and injector bore. I think one seat even had a crack forming. Still got 21-22mpg (4. 10 dually), and ran like a scalded ape.
