Yes Steve, I had a 2007 and the U-joints went out on it at 42,000.

Thats with a truck that doesnt even pull trailer. . My 2008 u-joints went out at 51,000 and they said that every u-joint was completly dry.

Also I have yet to see one of these trucks were the yoke on the axles didtnt leak. Im on my 2nd seal on the front shaft, and have an appointment in the morning to put the 3rd on in. . Only 53,000 miles.

Since they're using someone else's parts... AAM axles, Spicer joints, Fleetguard filters, Cummins engine, etc, they could quit pretending they're the only source for parts and start giving out more info.

dealers not wanting to bring flashes current unless there is a problem. dodge wont pay for preventive maintanence by dealers. what's the back up plan for ram owners when chrysler goes in the tank?

Who is going to pay

Lot of inconvience going back to dealer for cel.

Who is going to pay for this afte warrenty runs out.

Has there been a lot of trouble with u-joints on the 3rd gens? The 2nd gens don't have a problem with that unless they are really abused. I've replaced the rear u-joints twice on my 98 with 240,000 miles on it and the front u-joints (driveshaft and axle) are still the stock ones.

I put 230,000 miles on an '06 in less than two years when I was transporting RVs. More than half of those miles were towing and many of the towing miles were overloaded with VERY large, very heavy fifth wheels. I had no universal joint problems at all but the rear input shaft seal did develop a leak and had to be replaced.

I have just under 40,000 miles now on an '08 Ram cab and chassis. I have had no problems with it and am very pleased with the 6. 7 liter Cummins engine. Would I prefer it didn't have the emissions junk on it . . . of course. But that is a political issue not an issue with Dodge or Cummins.

I've almost 5,000 miles on an '08 I picked up 2 months ago, and there are no issues to date. I know the new ones coming for 2010 will be nicer (smoother ride, etc. ). That's part of the evolution.

Love the 6 speed auto. Rarely misses a beat, it seems to be in the right gear every time. A far cry from the 47RH in my 1995.

Okay, maybe one thing: make the engine block heater cord standard equipment! Come on guys!

Eddie

I've been told by a few guys who have used 2500's for years that the springs on the new trucks are next to worthless. I don't know if there's fewer springs or if they're weaker for a nicer ride or what. Local guys are adding airbags and overloads to trucks rated the same as their last truck (all dodges) that never needed any help in that dept.

Since you asked for negative feedback, I'll keep it coming.

I think the All-in-1 key and keyless transmitter is the most retarded idea Dodge has had in decades. My '04 had a separate key and I could leave the truck running and walk away with the transmitter in my pocket. Can't do that now. Before someone says, "carry two keys", I don't carry this massive POS/PITA key fob in my pocket. It looks like have have a boner all the time and it hurts. Maybe if I carried it in my purse...

have had two transient egr fail codes, and the truck wants it's oil changed after 4000 miles. last oil change was at 18,000.

current miles on '08' 22,000+ miles.

great power, and the auto transmission and factory engine brake is the best thing since sliced bread.

I don't have a 6. 7, but if they haven't improved the fan/ac/heater, they really need to. If it is a carry-over from the 06, it is one of the biggest POS ever put under a dashboard!

Can you tell us more on this, why is it junk and what about it? Does it fail?

My 07 has the same problem that my 95 Dodge did, it doesn't have any way to vent fresh air into the cab. You'd think that would be something easy to do.

Thanks Steve for representing us! Like most owners, the overfull oil level on the dipstick is a BIG concern (I let the oil drain for an HOUR before refilling, still shows overfull after 200 miles or so). Also, DPF replacement after 10,000 lightly loaded miles: what happens after factory warranty expires? YIKES!

The overhead console display is green. It is hard to seen with sunglasses on which are used quite often in Arizona. Also the lamp on the Exhaust brake switch is very hard to see. It's not very bright.

Seat Cushions

Oh yeah the seat cushion ... . make it more comfy..... more pad over the side rails... ouch .

Yea i thought when i bought 2008 6. 7 auto , it would be more comfy with bucket seats and the dealer said it was a useless option and not worth the extra money , then i sat in a bucket seat and pretty much worthless and not like the padding in a ford or chevy bucket plus i wanted flip down console so my dog could ride up on it to copilot when she wants too.

So my seat is pretty much like my old 98 ram again

And a trailer brake controller built in and a DIN standard radio so i can install any unit without Metro adapter plates

How about ballasted Zenon headlights ? and LEDS for marker and sidelights for the 10 model ,urea injection dpf delete ?
