Help with Methanol Injection

Slight Rattling Noise As I Opened Up Wide In Throttle

Hey all,

My truck came with a Smarty Programmer and an Edge Power Programmer both installed/functioning. I got some work done by my local Diesel guru on my truck and he was very concerned about the Edge and persuaded me to remove it from the truck..He said he's seen extreme carnage with the edge as it has no brain to adjust parameters and basically tunes the truck and keeps it that way. He said I would likely rip my (built) transmission to shreds. Aside from losing my turbo timer functionality, the truck seems to run the same.

Curious as to your thoughts on doing that and the Power Edge in general. This is a very old model that was installed likely just after the truck was purchased in 2001. My mechanic has owned a TON of the 5.9L so I am under the impression he does know what he's talking about. I can try to get a model number off it later if wanted

Thanks in advance

The DTT trans built to the power level you have will survive. The issue he should have explained is how to adjust timing so you are not using timing from both products

What's a good programmer for an 01 5.9? I have a smarty but it's old. Heard rumors that the bullydog is a good one (looking for one that is also a gauge readout)

In my opinion you've got the two best programmers on the market. Edge does have problems in the long term with their connectors and/or sensors. Smarty is the one I would choose over them all. It doesn't matter if your programmer is from the first year they were made you can still update it on their website with the latest tunes for free. Smarty has also proven to be the most reliable programmer for the 2nd gen trucks.

I'd keep whacha got.

I can't help on the schooling part because there are so many different ones that I have no knowledge about. However, I am running a late model Edge Juice w/attitude and the cts monitor, I like it a lot! It has about 10-12 gauges and can monitor several functions at once. I have mine set on the lowest fueling for boost levels, it won't fuel much until 20 psi so I can control smoke and that way the clutch is hooked up good before any huge power. It has stock all the way to level 6. Level 6 is Hot Unlock and is an extra cost for the code, I rarely use it. Level 5 adds 120/350 for an awesome tow experience. Level 6 adds 180/440. I also have the EGT set to defuel at 1400. It will do way more stuff then I am smart enough to set up. This is on my '01.

Cool, I will look into the Edge and cts monitor. As for the smarty, what's a good tune to run on these? I am not sure which one the truck currently has on it but the truck was set up by the original owner to tow and I don't do much of that right now...What do y'all suggest?
