How about compared to an existing BHAF?

Have been thinking of going w/ a scotty setup, but dont know how much improvement there would be over the 40 dollar BHAF.

Also, still hesitant about using an oiled type filter.

I was running a BHAF at the time I got my Scotty II and just dropping the Scotty II in using only the fender outlet it dropped my EGT's a solid 100* cruising down the road. They also dropped quicker and climbed slower.

After I cut the hole a couple months later it dropped my EGT's another 75* or so. Definately worth the $$ in EGT reduction!

I was running a #10 plate centered, 300 Marine injectors, and a 3K GSK at the time... . VERY hot combo on a stock HX35x12

Interesting. . Also we are in about the same range on power, but you've probably got me beat by 25-50 HP depending on your plate loc.

100* drop w/ just the side intake, would definitely be worth the cost IMO.

Just the affect of a constant cooler airflow through the turbo, means less heat stress, which equals, less wear over time.

Also, made me wonder what the affects of cooler intake air over the IAT & other sensors would do to the ECM settings. Might make it a little snappier just from the software reacting different, but just a guess without thinking it through (thats another subject for another thread).

Also, I suppose one could cut the 4. 5 in hole just to try it out, and if the noise was too much they could just put a cover plate on it.

Shouldnt be a big deal.

Some have put the insulation flap back over the hole when not needing max egt reduction and simply fold it back to open the hole. There are several folks that are having great results in cab noise reduction with the TAG. I never had the chance to try it before I sold the 01. I liked the sound.

I only remove the insulation when towing. The rest of the time I'm only sucking air out of the stock location. The insulation makes a big difference.

Does this setup come with good instructions on how and where to cut the hole in the friewall? Where is the cheapest place to buy this setup?

nfox, talked with scotty the other day and yes good instructions come with kit, just get A 4. 5" circle bit( hole saw) for drill, locate at far edge of cowl, directions will tell you where , also just eyeball dry fit first. easy does it...

The 4. 5" drill is EXPENSIVE for a one time hole. There are a couple floating around TDR and you might be able to borrow one.

I drew the circle and then took a 1/16" drill and commenced to drill about 100 holes on the pattern line. Then cut through a couple of adjacent holes, then started in on the long cut. Took a while, but was not going to spend $45 for a 4. 5" hole saw for a one time cut.

Haven't seen it mentioned in a while. For the people that cut the cowl hole,Get a 4. 5" rubber gasket/light mount for a big rig trailer light. They can be found at most Napa stores and make for a great finished look. Fit is perfect.

Does anyone know if AFE makes a ProGuard 7 filter that will fit in the Scotty 2??

I have same question.

If not the proguard, then a sock for the Scotty II AFE filter. I probably can figuer out a sock, but is there one designed to fit?

I've had mine for over 100k miles and really love it. It does everything Scotty says. Never been wet, even in some serious Louisiana storms at a few mph over the limit. :D
