Scuba Tank Mount Under Bed

So, I use a scuba tank on long hunting trips to air my tires up (if needed). I already have a couple of them and they hold a tremendous amount of air. I'm not sure how many tires I can fill with a full aluminum 80, but I'd bet it could completely fill 4-8 empty tires on a 2500.



Taking them on a trip though is always kind of a paid due to the size and how they ride/roll around. I'd like to figure out a place and a way to mount one under the bed of my truck. I have a welder and could fabricate something if needed and then bolt that to an area under the bed for the tank to lay on. I could then secure the scuba tank down with straps of some sort.



Anyone have thoughts on a good approach to this conundrum? Also an idea on a good location under the bed to do this?

There is a lot of room outside the frame between the rear wheel well and the rear of the cab. bg

We mount SCBA tanks on our quick response, fire, and rescue trucks in almost any location we can find room. Usually, we try and keep them mounted sideways or up and down instead of front to back in order to protect the valve/regulator if the tank shifts during starts or stops of the truck. Of course, if you are mounting it solid in a mount, movement should't be any issue.

I have a huge space on the driver's side under the cab. I plan on putting extra fuel filters, air compressor, and the tank under there. I just gotta get a round tuit. I figured I'd put a couple of pieces of angle from frame to frame, and clamp it under the frame either using u-bolts or all-thread and a plate on top. Then mount the tank on that. I've get under there and check clearance first to be sure it will fit.

With a high pressure tank, I'd make sure the valve was well protected.

Co2 is nice its about 900 psi problem is the regulators start freezing when you move a lot of Co2 then they don't regulate properly . I think the SCBA is the way to go very small tank pump up 4. 5 or 4500 psi now your talking air . enough for some Nathans P5's

This is what I use,no freeze up and my bed mounted tank will fill at least 10 37's from sand pressure to highway pressure
very fast compared to any 12 v compressors I have tried

Thanks guys on the info, but I don't see a need to spend $300 on a CO2 system when I have the scuba tanks here already. What I need are some ideas on how to mount it somewhere safe and secure. I found this in the link from Bob4x4.
