Problem I've run into with pipe wrenches and nuts is that sometimes the pipe wrench and the way they work, griping tighter as you apply more pressure, will make the nut harder to remove. That's when you break out the two foot crescent wrench with a cheater bar. I've run into pipe fittings so frozen on that a 12' cheater on a 4' wrench wouldn't get them. at that point, you get a pipe wrench out. in my tool box at work i have 5 pipe wrenches and i use them daily, and i am an apprentice mechanic, not a plumber![]()
