Does anyone know a way to keep the unbuckled seatbelt from chiming, other than putting it on!

I cannot find anything in the manual or CD that explains the way to turn it off as in earlier years.

Though I wear my seatbelt on the road, I dont want to wear it while driving through a dang parking lot or my 1/4 mile driveway!!

2012 Ram 2500 btw

you can undue the connector under the seat and put a jumper wire to complete the circuit i just cut it and put a wire nut on it! fixed!

Well that thought had crossed dmy mind, just didn't want to start cutting wires on a $53,000 truck! Guess the government doesn't allow them to be bypassed anymore..... Thanks

You can ask your dealer for a seat belt extender (for us larger folks) and if you insert it into the seat belt receptacle, the truck thinks your seat belt is on. Voila! No more chime. Most dealers will give you one at no charge. GV

Check your owners manual but the following is from a 2009 owners manual maybe it will help you.

NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first

60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON

or START position. Chrysler LLC does not recommend

deactivating BeltAlert.

1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in any

position except ON or START, buckle the driver’s seat

belt.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait

for the Seat Belt Reminder Light to turn off.

3. Within 60 seconds of turning the ignition switch to the

ON position, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver’s

seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending

with the seat belt buckled.

4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. A

single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully

completed the programming.

BeltAlert can be reactivated by repeating this procedure.

NOTE: Although BeltAlert has been deactivated, the

Seat Belt Reminder Light will continue to illuminate

while the driver’s seat belt remains unbuckled.

Use the instructions post above, or check your owners manual (disc). I turned the chime off in my 2010 this way, no problems.

Just thought I'd run this up again since I just bought a 2012 and let everyone know the procedure described by 'crispyboy' works on the '12's as well. Thank God! That chime would have driven me crazy!!

Here you go. Haven't tried it yet.

Used this same method to turn off the seat belt chime on my 2007 2500, my new 2012 Ram 3500, a friends 2008 3500, my Mom's 2014 1500 Eco diesel and my Grandmother's 2006 Jeep Liberty.
