So I like the idea of a heater... . and factory intergration... But can you get a filter that is worth having on it?

And by the looks of it for a 2006 in the TSB

1 (AR) 68026934AB WIF Sensor Wiring Adaptor - Required on vehicles

equipped with a 5. 9L

(In conjunction with 68083853AA or 68083853AB) 2004. 5 -

2007

I finally got some bad fuel. so after this experience I have decided to add secondary filtration. After doing a bit of research I decided that the Mopar severe duty filtration kit part number 68038353 AB would do the job for my needs. Well when I got the kit I was disappointed with the quality of the filter head and then I realized the most important part... . the filter. this kit comes with a Mopar only filter part number 6883826aa. mopar had changed the thread size in the filter head down to about 5/8 so that only their filter will work with it. I tried to return the kit but since the package was already opened I was not able to. so my search for a new filter head lead me to this. CUMMINS 5. 9 FUEL FILTER KIT WITH DIESEL PRE HEATER it is part of a kit that originally came with the fuel pump and fuel lines and it is made for the cab and chassis model truck. but it has the proper filter head for use with fleet guard filters. I figured somebody here on TDR may want this kit and yes I did pay 49. 95 for it. if you call the number in the link asked for Mark.

I want to thank you for posting that filter kit for $49. 95. What a deal. I bought 2 kits and they showed up today. One kit has the pickup mount and the other kit has the C&C mount. For $124. 00 delivered, I have all the parts and wiring to replace my kits currently under my truck, if they get damaged. Oo.

The only thing is the guy I talked with does not know what mount is in the kit because the box is still factory sealed. But, there are threads out there on how to fab up a mounting bracket. :D

ThunderRoad, what aftermarket filters fit the OEM kit that you have listed? That's one hell of a price, to bad I went a different direction a long time ago. But it can help my local friends. They have the same truck, and I will likely be installing this for them.

I use the Fleetguard FF5320 & FS19823. The FF5320 is the 2 micron fuel filter & the FS19823 is the direct replacement for the Mopar water fuel filter #68020642AA. This is a single filter element, water stripping filter for use with B-20 fuel after the lift pump. The thread size is the 1-14. I understand that the Cat and Donaldson filters may fit. I only use the Fleetguard or Mopar filters.

I should mention that the kits I got did not have the second water in fuel sensor for the 5. 9 engine mounted filter. You would need to order the #68026934AB WIF Sensor Wiring Adaptor - Required on vehicles equipped with a 5. 9L engine. If the adapter does not come with the extra WIF sensor, you will need to order that too. (only if you want to have the extra sensor connected to the WIF light on the instrument cluster).

Interestingly enough the instructions I got with the older kit does not have you change out the main water in fuel sensor. you just plug it all and then enable the 20% bio option with the DRB 3.

Also it just dawned on me that the filter for the new kit is probably sourced from iveco.

Wow, Chrysler left out some important information that a 5. 9 truck and the 2006 and newer trucks need to know. If you search my other posts on this subject, you will read about all the fun I had with finding out the answers. I do thank my Dodge dealer service department in North Olmsted for tracking down the answer for the WIF light.

The plug will not fit the 5. 9 WIF sensor in the factory filter. The 5. 9 kit came with the replacement sensor, that is the same as the sensor in the filter that is in the kit. There was also a 4" long adapter wire #68026934AB that is needed because the 5. 9 sensor plug is too small. (The 6. 7 kits do not need the extra sensor, as the factory sensor is the same as the kit sensor. (This is what I was told  )).

Still trying to find someone that makes a bushing for the new kit to old filter. Don't forget to use dielectric grease in the WIF plug under the truck.

Ok, Thunder Road here is the differences between the old and new filter heads.

The threaded insert on the new kit is metric at a size of 16-1. 50mm on both ends. The old style filter head screws in using a thred size of 13/16-16 and the filter side of it is 1-14. Both of the filters have the same dimater outer seal.

The new kit is on the left and the old on the right. And i paid $250. 00 at a online mopar discount parts store.

Take a look at this filters specs. It fits the diesel Jeep. Is the dia. of the filter you have 84mm? Iveco may be where Dodge got the filter from. Fuel Filter products, buy Fuel Filter products from alibaba.com

I just did the measurements and the outside of the Dodge filter comes in at 95 mm. I did some more quick searching on the filter to find another source I'm almost certain it's a common filter in the Fiat diesel family. I just don't know how to use the search on the Internet anymore it seems like the older I get the less I understand about it. every time I trying to find out information on the search engines. the search engines just come back with wanting to sell me stuff.

I'm a little confused about this setup. I reviewed AH64ID's link, and I had previously intended to install a GDP unit between the existing filter and the IP w/ a 2um filter. Is this unit utilized the same way, or is it to be used before the existing filter w/ a larger filtration of 7um, w/ a 5um in my existing Baldwin filter? Also, how does the pre-heat hook-up... . w/an ignition activated circuit? Lastly, what style (pickup mount/ C&C) would I use to have the unit function as a 2 um filter downstream of the existing filter/separator. I live in a colder climate like AH64ID, and recognize the benefit of a heater.

That bracket is for the gas tank emissions junk on a Hemi (same frame from a 2500 hemi thru a 3500 DRW, given the same wheelbase). Dodge just took advantage of already present brackets when designing the kit.

Using the same standards the BF7633 is a 7um absolute filter, whereas the Fleetguard is 5um, Cat is 4um, and Donaldson is 3um. Using the standards that Baldwin promotes it's 4um, but you have to compare apples to apples. The best filter in that series is the Donaldson P551313.

The 33585XE is 8um absolute, and 6um at 95% according to Wix's website. Minimum OEM spec is 7um absolute.

The Fleeguard FS19856 are 7um, whereas the Baldwin's are 5um.

It would be nice if we could do one stop shopping for filters, but if you want the best ratings it's Baldwin in the OEM canister, and Donaldson on the GDP mount.

Thanks AH, I somehow missed this post and just back tracked to it. .

This setup goes before the OEM canister. Without a filter number it's hard to know exactly what ratings the filter has.

The pre-heater will most likely have a wiring harness and a relay. The heater power comes from the battery, and the OEM heater in the canister is what trips the relay.

Thanks AH64ID. I did a little more research this morning and reviewed your link. It cleared up most of my questions. I'm going to use your setup, and order one of these units for after the LP and before the OEM filter. I'll utilize the GDP unit for down stream of the OEM filter. I might need to bug you a little about the wiring/relay setup later(electrical is not my strong suit). I'm not going to worry about the additional WIF sensor.

Anybody know which style unit (C&C versus pickup) I should use for the frame rail mount?:)
