So i've been looking for a secure mount that can locked for my CCW firearm. I had the ole tried and true lock box that was in the console of my old 3rd gen, but I don't want to lose that storage space again. I saw these NRA Jotto holster/locking devices online and look pretty cool. It serves a in cab holster and a locking contraption. My thought was to mount it to the front seat brackets mounts where it's easy to grab but also keeps it semi hidden from passerby's. Was curious to see what you guys are using.

Well I'm new here. Been lurking for a while. First time I've posted or responded. I don't lock mine up as it's useless if needed. (JMHO). I have a .45 in the door, a back up in the consol, and my CCW I just wedge in between the drivers seat and center seat so that it's ready to rock, and right there when I get out of the truck.

As a service plumber (in the city) I carry my xds 45 on my hip 24-7. Not open, but I use a holster from Sneakypete.com .... looks like a big phone/computer holster, only had 1 guy figure it out, and thats cus he had one.. Highly recommend it..

if its locked up, or in the truck, and you need it NOW, what good is it really?

I have one of these, among others. It's great. I highly recommend them. You can wear it with any kind of pants from shorts to sweat pants.

I don't travel with it locked up, but there are some places that I can not legally carry. In those times, it has to be secured in my truck per Ca state law. If someone breaks into my truck and steals my unsecured arm, I'm on the hook. I don't make up the laws, but do follow them whether I like it or not.

Driving with a pistol in the small of my back is not comfortable. I wear an IWB holster, so I'm looking for something that I can mount in my truck that serves as both a holster and can secure a firearm.

Gotcha. Didn't realize you were in CA.

Glad to hear that some people can still get a CCW there.

CCW is easy in Ca providing the person is in a CCW friendly county. I'm 40 and have had a CCW for 18 years straight.

I grew up in Hayward (right next to Oakland/Berkeley). Moved to AZ 21 years ago. There wasn't getting any CCW in Alameda county back then. I'm guessing it's still the same. My dad was the Fire Chief in Hayward, and even he couldn't get a CCW. Being that you have the restrictions that you have there, I think the link of the one you are looking at looks like one of the better ones out there. If only it had a bracelet you could wear or so,etching so that if you got a foot or two away, it automatically unlock.

I do as ktf... Have mine in the door compartment where the foam drink holder is. It's snug enough with the holster, yet I can grab it quickly.

Well it looks like the above Jotto holster may not be legal in Ca because the law states the firearm must be in a enclosed lockable storage. The 'enclosed' wording may prevent it from passing. I'll have to email the DOJ I guess.

Looks like I may have to pony up for another console vault and lose the under seat storage yet again.

So I got some disappointing news. The Jotto holster is not considered a "lockable Enclosed Container", therefore it is not a legal for my intended purposes. I'll just have get over the fact I'll have to lose the lower center seat storage again for the vault.

They make some slim vaults that could easily fit under the driver seat, but Ram's engineers has apparently stuffed 10lbs of poo in a 5lb bag under there.

Bummer. You got that right about the crap under the seats. I actually just picked up some gun magnets for my truck to move the .45 from the drivers door to the consol trim right next to my leg. It's a shame you have to go through so much crap in CA to be compliant.

At least he has that right.
