Seeping valve cover gaskets

What is the best way to clean up around the 6-valve cover gaskets before replacing them? And, any other recommendations for this job. Happy Veterans Day to all! Thank you, all who have Served, and those who continue on Actve duty today. Blessings, Patrick

I’ve always used brake clean and compressed air before removing them. Loosen the bolts and lift them straight up. Clean the surface on the head and the valve covers. I’ve never used any adhesive on the gaskets. Make sure to replace the o-rings on the bolts.
