A truck that is much rarer, but not desirable, is a 98 extra cab. For a while you could get a regular cab, extra cab, or a quad cab in 98. Nobody wanted the extra cab if you could get a quad so by the 1999 model year the extra cab was dropped. I have seen one myself.

Club cabs were still available in early 1999 - not sure if the whole year. My '99 has a build date of 8-98 and is a club cab.

Yes, as I recall, you could order either a club cab (like our 1996) or a quad cab (like our 2002) for a period of time. Production dates of the two cab styles overlapped.

Wow! Now that is an interesting bit of info I'd never heard! Strictly based on side mirrors, my truck looks like a 98+ club cab, but it's just a 96 with 98 mirrors... I haven't noticed anyone else looking like mine, but I'll be watching!
 
I might have used the wrong terms for the extra cab, maybe I should have said club cab? Hard to keep stright what the different manufacturers call the extre cab. I think most of you understood what I ment.
