We were headed to Sterling Co for a consert Thursday when I crossed a section of road they had removed and in layed dirt. I was going about 65 or so, when I went over the second one my truck started shaking/vibrating VIOLENTLY. My pop came out of the cup holder and every thing on the dash fell off. I didn't stop untill I got down to 35 mph. After my legs stopped shaking and got my drawers cleaned I got out took a look arround and didn't see any thing amis. Drove on into town no problem.

On the way home We made it 8 to 10 miles at 65 mph and it started again. Its like driving off the back side of Mount Rushmore. Again after I got below 35 mph it stopped. Drove the rest of the way at 60 mph no problem.

I went and got my tires rotated and balanced the next morning and they weren't over 1. 25 oz off. Took the truck to Ft. Collins after the balance and it didn't vibrate.

But now I have a noise, not quite a klunk but not a lite tink, when I go forward, reverse, or turn right at take off. #ad
The front U-joint has been a little loose #ad
since I got the truck with 118,000 miles.

Any help would be appreciated. #ad

I test drove a used Ford once that did that. It had a lift and 38" tires. I took it back to the dealer and asked the guy if he'd driven it yet. He said no, they had just got it in from an auction. I told him he'd better have someone look at it before somebody wrecks it.

Other than that, I don't know what your problem is. I would start by looking for something loose in the front end, track bar, tie rods, etc.

MY truck has michilns 265-75-16's. I did find the lower knuckle joint on the passenger side has a little play would this be enough to cause a problem more than tire wear??

So far the other joints look ok but I will crawl under it tommorow.

Mac,

It's probably your steering shock. That's the horizontal one attached to the tie rod. If it wears out it can vibrate hard enuff to jar your fillings out. Usually starts vibrating after hitting a bump and you have to slow down a lot to make it stop.

I checked the shock it was TOAST #ad
And I narrowed down the noise to the frame near the stering unit. I tighted it up and haven't noticed it any more.
