I can not find the post that describes how to check for a short by removing the negitive and putting a test light in line ? I get a super stumble while driving down the road and every time i hit the breaks at slow speeds the anti lock comes on but no dash lights or codes. This is been happening for 18 months and can not stand it anymore and need some serious help. Anybody in Wisconsin want to help?

The brake issue sounds like maybe an erratic reading from a wheel speed sensor. Have the front bearings or sensors been checked or replaced recently?

Niether,98,000 miles and this brake trouble. Also the rpms increase after irt wurms up. I have a manual high idler, that is where i see the rpm change when warm.

Disconnect both negative cables, hook test light between one battery post and cable. If there is a draw, the test light will glow.

To locate the draw, after your light is connected, start pulling fuses 1 by 1 till the light goes out or dims if you have multiple draws

When you say the anti lock comes on do you mean it vibrates like the brakes are grabbing and releasing or is it the light on the dash? If you have different diameter tires on the front than the rear that could happen I guess. Did you make any repairs/changes to the truck when this first started? Silly questions I know but just trying to figure out what could cause this. bg

What haapens is when I am slowing down, right before it comes to a stop, the anti lock starts to activate with no light or anything. I put both feet on the brakes to over ride it. Scares the heck out of me.

Does your speedometer ever cut up when this happens? If so, the sensor in the diff. may be covered with metallic particles. If not, I would have to guess that one of the front wheel sensors is bad. Are you sure the red light on the dash for ABS is not burned out? bg

Does the speedo drop to zero? When you start up does the spped stay at zero and then jump up to 10 or 15 mph? If that the case then the rear wheel ABS sensor (which also provides a signal for the speedometer) has a low output. It could be a dirty connecter or the sensor isn't seated properly or the sensor is failing or something is wrong with the tone ring in the diff (from cheap fix to expensive). If your truck has 4 wheel abs then it could be one of the front sensors too. With a low signal the ABS thinks a wheel has locked up and pops the brake pressure.
