First Impressions - - - Well, I got my Short-Shift kit for the 6 speed this week and got it installed Saturday morning. Oooooooooooh yea, feels like a brand new transmission. The throws are short and sweet and the notchiness that was from 2nd to 3rd or 4th to 3rd is gone. This Short-Shift kit is a definant recomend for anyone thinking about installing one on a 6 speed.

Now I'm confused. Some say It's great, others say it isn't worth it. I guess I will have to drive one to find out. Now, how can I talk my buddy with a 6 speed into buying one?

I have had mine in for few months now and have even forgotten that I have it. If you put two trucks together one with the Short shifter and one without there is a noticeable difference. The worth is on you. I got mine because I was tired of having the shifter hit my add-on cup holder and I wanted to be able to shift faster. It accomplishes both so for me it was worth it even though I forget I have it... .

Thanks batman,

The shifter is still on my list of accessories to save for. I may go for injectors and a box and clutch first, but I will get around to it.

p. s. I am about to buy a set of Nitto's (not the 18 inchers that you have, just 16's for me) how are they performing for you? I need them for rain, snow, ice, occasional dirt and mud.

I installed mine last night... and really like it. I can pin my elbow to the console and row through every gear without moving it. Shifts are much quicker and firmer... the short shift kit gives you a bit of resistance that the factory shift doesn't. Some like it, & some don't I'm sure... My biggest reason for it was to make room for my laptop console bracketry... not to make it easier grabbing 4th. during a burnout. :D

I like the Nitto's for their looks and feel on the highway at all speeds, even 117mph  . But I do not like the way they wear. I may have 15 to 20k on them and they need to be replaced. I do not do burnouts but I do drive fast. I also tow during the summer which may also contribute but I ran BFG KO's before and I could get better than 30k out of them. There is a thread, about a month back that discussed the Nitto's and how they are holding up. I do not know yet how to do the fancy linking stuff, sorry but I am sure if you do a search on Nitto's you will find it.

BatMan,

I read that thread, just wondering how yours were holding up. Thanks for the info. I'm hoping mine wear better than 20K. I can't beat the price though.
