Should I buy off my lease?

My truck is coming off lease. I can buy my truck for $14,500. The truck has 73,000 miles on it. The truck has never had a programmer. Just a cat back exhaust. I am reading all of these stories about how there trucks have injector issues and destroy the motor. The truck is in good shape. It has always been serviced, as far as coolant, oil and fuel filter changes. The truck has been very good to me. My worries. Two times last year I started my truck when it was 80-90 outside and let it idle so the ac could cool the truck. The ac didn't blow cold air? I started down the road and the truck got cold air very soon. Then never lost it for the rest of the trip, sitting in traffic or running down the road. I was thinking it could be the fan clutch going out. It has only done this twice since I have owned the truck but something to note. I am thinking if the fan clutch didn't engage the truck build to much head pressure. The other thing and this could be just me. I have tried to start it two different times and it didn't start in the normal number of cranks. I also have a 2009 2500 Hemi Ram as a company truck. I drive this truck much more than the 06. The 09 has that one touch start were you turn the key and let go, it will crank the truck till it starts without your hand on the key. I may have just let off the key too fast. The truck runs good, doesn't smoke at all. I just thought injectors? My truck can sit all week in the cold Michigan weather not plugged in and fire up with no issues, so I don't really think I have a problem there. But worth noting. For the same money I can't get a truck like it or even close. This truck has no dent, rust, scratch's nothing. Has not been in a crash. I have always cared for it and never abused it. I didn't lease it to hot rod, I always wanted a diesel to pull my 20' open trailer when I go up north with our quads. This truck has not been asked to work hard. Before this truck a 360 in a 1500 dodge did the same job for 8 years. Should I buy it off lease? Should I buy it off lease sell it and move on? Should I let it go back? I am asking these question just because I don't want to end up with a big problem and a expensive repair bill. A gas motor will do what I need to do just not nearly as easily or with the same economy. Thanks for your thought and reading my long winded bs. I may just be way overthinking this:confused:

I thought about that. You wouldn't be worried about buying the truck? I planned on giving them a low ball offer. I was going to start at 11-12K, the worst they can say is no.

I sure wouldn't be worried about buying it. Remember, it's the guys who do have mechanical issues that post. Folks who have never had a problem (like me) rarely start or remark on threads to brag about it so you only hear the bad stuff.

Think of it like this..... if you found a used '06 for $14500 in the condition that yours is in, wouldn't you think it was a great deal? Considering that you were the person putting on the miles, it makes is a no brainer. Buy it.

No,But always remember that Vehicles NEED up keep,So set aside a maintenance fund $3/4k,So if it does happen You Have the $$$$. Look at suspension component's,Injectors, tires,Batteries, electronic devices,Etc. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst it always works.

Buy it. You would have to do an awful lot of repairs to make up the price of a new one... I'm still kicking my self for letting my 98-1/2 go with 65K miles on it...

THE DAY IT LEFT... .

Go to NADA's website, plug in all pertinent info, and report back to us. I'm sure you'll soon see it's a no*brainer.

I vaguely plugged in all your info and came up with $19,950 Rough Trade In, $21,475 Average Trade In, $22,750 Clean Trade In, and $26,975 Clean Retail. Worst case scenario... . buy it, turn it for some extra cash, and be done with it. As others have already stated, you'll not find one on any lot per your description, for your residual.

As far as "end up with a big problem and a expensive repair bill"..... only The Amazing Kreskin can answer that.

I just was on NADA's website and plugged in my info. My truck came back with

Base Price $14,050 $15,575 $16,850 $20,375

Power Seat $250 $250 $250 $300

Aluminum/Alloy Wheels $300 $300 $300 $350

Snow Plow Pkg. /Plow $1,000 $1,000 $1,000 $1,125

Fixed Running Boards $125 $125 $125 $150

Bed Liner $100 $100 $100 $125

Towing/Camper Pkg $150 $150 $150 $175

5. 9L HO Turbo Diesel Engine $6,000 $6,000 $6,000 $6,675

See all options chosen

TOTAL PRICE $21,725 $23,250 $24,525 $29,025*

With a average trade in of $23,250 and a Clean retail of $29,025 I guess its a no brainer. I would be hard pressed to replace this tuck for $20,000 and they are asking $14,500. Thanks for all the help!Oo.
