Should i give up on the CR cummins?

I had an 03 CR in my truck and had alot of injector problems (4 sets) and did a lift pump replaced with a fass no problems again and an CP3 pump, and various other problems. always fought on warranty but eneded up paying the majority! So i put in a 12v and has been good so far... the price to fix a 12v verses a new CR is alot cheaper in many aspects... lost faith in the new electronic stuff!!!



How much pain and suffering did that swap cost? Not everyone is going to want to do that with an otherwise perfectly good truck. Just what mods did you have on your CR?
 
What else is done to the truck, fill in your sig. I know what you mean, can't keep a trans in my '03 or find anyone that knows how to work on one!#@$%! Would like to get a new one, but for damn near $60k and have to put up with the dealers BS, I just may go postal next time around! Think I'll try to keep this one going and see what Toyotas entry is going to be in the big truck market next summer. :rolleyes:



contact wade over at NGM Diesel He got me rollin after a burnt up transmission. tell him derek sent you. hes cheaper than most and got me a new trans. I have not been able to slip this transmission and i have been know to slip new or freshly rebuilt auto trannys.

contact wade over at NGM Diesel He got me rollin after a burnt up transmission. tell him derek sent you. hes cheaper than most and got me a new trans. I have not been able to slip this transmission and i have been know to slip new or freshly rebuilt auto trannys.

Ok im really considering it now my truck broke down agian this weekend and it was all stock no programmer from bully dog.

driveing down the high way at 75 and it sputters and dies but keeps turning of course cause it was in gear. and then alot alot alot alot of white smoke!!!

Injector again just after a new set was put in under warranty?

it was a bit of a struggle at times, just to build brackets for stuff and wiring, still havent got all the factory gauges working, almost every thing is run through the engine ECM on the '03. . daylight running lights, heated seats,... some weird stuff went on when the ECM was hooked up to the aternator so unhooked that and just put in an old style votage reg. and auto meter gauges for all the other stuff. only the fuel and speedo gauges work untill i figure out the wiring somemore. ended up costing me about $15,000 CDN to do the swap but that was a complete rebuild of the 12v.



had a lot of different cobinations of chips and injectors and turbos on the '03. the best combo i found was a PPE downloader Edge juice stacked with an EZ or a predator 130hp chip, a phat shaft 66 turbo, capped fuel rail, custom air box, stock exhaust and EGT's would take along to get over 1350 then added some 90hp injectors and she was pretty stout then! wasnt long after that and the SB con FE let go! figure i was close to 600RWHP at that point.
 
WoW i have had nothing but problems with my 2006 cummins guys and i sadly drove a 6. 4 stoker yesterday! it seems as tho every 2weeks somthing is wrong with my fuel systems i just had a full set of injectors put in and a lift pump the low pressure pump. and one week later it is alreay actring goofy white smoke at start up! and when the clutch is depressed it idles rough from 600 to 900 rpms then smooths out.



What do i do give up or what guys im about to the limit with this CR crap!



Give Up or just keep getting the hassle of warranty work. by the way Gillette, WY energy dodge is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!





I think you should get rid of your triple dog.

Just because you are back to stock does not mean the downloader did not mess up the ECM...



My suggestion is to dump that truck OR get a new ECM - It seems like once a DL'er is on an ECM, its never the same after that
 
I'd go with the Ford but don't leave this site that way we can get the scoop on what the new ford 6. 4 is doing . talked to 2 xford guys this weekend , one is a salesman at a ford dealership , he's a little depressed about the 6. 0 and is optimistic(at best) about the 6. 4 . go do it and let us know , thanks for sharing. :D:D
 
I wouldnt go for the Ford, go trade on a new Dodge (or used if you prefer) the likely hood that youll get another Dodge thats acting up is slim, slimmer chance than with the Ford by far in my opinion...
 
Yep, I totally agree. By the way, hows the 'Runner comin along?



The new top is being installed today and tomorrow. The hood stripes didn't come out very good the first time. The guy doing it hadn't sprayed Organisol, so he'll have to scuff and spray again.



After that, there's a lot of touch-up and cleaning to do and align the front end. Cross your fingers and it should be at Carlisle in a week and a half.
 
One of these days Im gonna have to make it to Carlisle, Id like to take my Roadrunner and Challenger, but with work its hard to find time to work on them. Oh well, enjoy the car, should be a blast runnin around with the top down and that Hemi under the hood. And yes, Im jealous!!
