soooo... . any word on what is going to happen? Any new headway on this subject. I posted a thing about the S. MI dyno Day on GLTDR but not a whole lot of feedback.

There isn't much happening yet. It seems that the site is in and out on being able to get into it. As far as the club goes, almost all of the decisions were made online at the monthly meetings on the first Sunday of the month. The chat room has not had many participants over a long period of time. We are lucky to have two to four people a week in the chat room. It would help quite a bit if the members would have the time to get into the chat room and make a go of this club. I don't have any other ideas at this time. We just need to get together and act like a club and make the right decisions to keep it alive.

Ive noticed the site has been down (its my main page when i open explorer). my comp sucks so it wont let me open the chat applet. The threads arnt very active. one last thing is one of the areas im "off limits too" the heck! haha I havent gotten a user name or password yet

thanks guys

Ian

Can we get a meeting at IRP?

My question is this why should I join a group of fellow diesel heads when I already have joined one this group right here? I find all the info I need right here and I get a great magazine also. Look I understand the concept but I live in illinois and do not go to mich or ohio sorry. I would give my money to a group closer to home like a illinois and wisconsin chapter of the TDR that would serve my local states. The great lakes tdr covers too much area too many states I think a split is in order like the western great lakes TDR and the eastern great lakes chapter of the TDR and using the tdr web site to tell members about events ect just a thought( I think too much in the big truck) Look at the guys in the north west they seem happy with their club mabe open the club to all diesel trucks and use this web site for dodge/cummins discussions :-{} ok I must go and clean out my k whopper please don't flame me for my comments I am just thinking out loud and trying to find a way to not loose a great club though a very quiet club (GLTDR). Chapers within the GLTDR

There just aren't enough days in the week, or hours in the day. I often am working in the shop or on the house till past the GLTDR chat is done. Or if I made the mistake of sitting down for a 'few minutes' after dinner, when I wake up at midnight the chat is over.

I have so few free weekends every summer, what with DTT trans jobs, Classic car events, work on the house and yard, and just trying to stop and catch my breath for an hour or so... It is really hard to get away and drive even a few hours to an event, no matter how much fun it is.

I either need a lot fewer hobbies and projects, or need to win the lottery so I don't have to spend so many days on the road every month.

So, a few local chapters with closer, more frequent events should make it easier for me to attend a couple of them. A sound plan from my point of view.

Just my $. 02

greg, im with you. lets buy lotterery tickets in bulk :-laf where bound to win.

how hard would it be to have each state have its own little chapter? then still be one big thing?

When the club was started it was a great idea and a lot of people made long distance friends. I think the times are just getting busier and people don't have the time they used to have to spend on the club as a whole. On top of that you have TiM that started out as a GLTDR Event and look where it has ended up. It is still getting bigger! Thanks Eric!

And look at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza! It didn't start out as a GLTDR deal but some GLTDR members have helped out over the years. These events kind of take place of the older GLTDR events. A goal is still to have local events put on by GLTDR members in their area, but it doesn't happen too often.

I don't have a problem with the possibility of making each state or a couple of states put together for smaller chapters. I don't know what would happen as far as the web site (GLTDR.org) but maybe it still could be a central place for the clubs so friends can still get together in the chat room and forums.

We were going to have a yearly meeting this year in April, but there was no participation in the chat room on Sunday night to speak of to carry it far enough to get something in place. I am sorry to see the lack of participation but I can understand it I guess :(

I just don't see it as a one person or two person decision, but that is the norm for people in the chat room many Sunday nights. Maybe we all should try and get into the chat room as often as possible so we can hammer this out.

Also, it has been a long time since we had a "real" business meeting. These used to happen on the first Sunday of the month, but now it seems it is just all chat and no "business" meeting with a moderator controlling the meeting. Where do you all want to go from here???????????

David

I don't see how there could be since I was the lone person in the chat room Sunday night and waited 15 minutes for someone else to come in. No-one showed. Sorry state for such a good Chapter (or what used to be a good chapter) of the TDR.

I guess I could talk it over with the secretary of the club and let us two make the decision. I also would like to get Robert Patton or maybe Robin involved. Even if we could do a splitup, no-one participates so how would the officers of the other areas get elected? You have to have at least a president to have a chapter.

I don't see any reason to kill it. Its not hurting anything- I want to keep trying to revive it for a while.

I don't want to kill it either. I just would like to get a way to get the members to have local gatherings/events in their area and then meet up with whoever could make the larger events. It just seems to be hard to accomplish without members coming into the chat room

Since the members of GLTDR won't come to their own web site  mabe someone should do a poll (on this web site)Seeking advice on what to do? Ask questions like should we give up our own web site? or should we split the club into a east and west club? :) should we have ind state clubs? some states will have great turnout and some states will have very little also I think if the club were to put out ads somewhere it mite boost the exposure of the club. I know in my neighborhood a lot of diesel trucks are running around none are members of any club :p most don't never heard of the TDR until I tell them. But when they see the flamming going on by some people they say no thank you. I do not think I or anybody else needs to be "thick skinned: just to be on a web site. I like others come here to be informed and learn about me truck and do not need to be called names just because I asked a question someone else asked one or two years ago. If you don't like my question let it die in unanswered question hell. just my $0. 01 worth. Before anyone can fix what's wrong with the GLTDR you got to find out why the members left or don't care anymore. It might be time for snail mail just a thought. Tod P. S. I bet the answer is simple. but the solution hard.  Edited for spelling

It was nice chatting with you Tod. I hope you can make it next week.

Ian, I don't have an answer for you and your computer woes. I have to assume you are not closing the browser page that has the logon on it? If you are, you will be kicked out every time. You have to have both pages (windows) open to stay in the chat room.

Is that clear as mud?
