I have some questions?
1. Why is it dying?
2. Why is participation low?
3. Whats the difference in GLTDR and TDR. . I know 1 is a chapter but what sets you apart?
4. Why is there no threads or advertising of ANY kind concerning membership?
5. Are the chat sessions open to only GLTDR members or TDR guys in the great lakes area?
6. Im sure there are "standing days" for meetings but are there any "reminders" sent out a day or two b4 meeting? Alot on minds this time of year with pulls, work, vacations, and general misbehavin's.
7. Is GLTDR kinna spread out (geography wise)?
8. Could GLTDR stay and have "sub chapters"?
I've seen some of your posts and if seen enough to know yall are a great group of guys. . even taken some advice from past threads. . thanks BTW.

Hope all goes well
I will try to answer some of your questions to the best of my ability.
1) Maybe "dying" is a little harsh. No communication to speak of through the membership is what I see. It didn't help when the "president" disappeared with no contact.
2) I wish I knew the answer to that one. We try to bring people into the chat room on Sunday nights to conduct chats to get to know each other and set things up for the club.
3) Local Chapters bring camaraderie.
4) The contact info for the chapters are in the magazine and also listed on this website for people to act upon if they so desire.
5) The chat room is open to anyone who wants to come by and join in.
6) A reminder is sent out the day of the chat session every week.
7) The club is very spread out. Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York are the states that the club covers. Way too big an area if we don't have people to set up local events in place. That cannot be done because of the lack of participation in the chat room.
8) We would love to set up "sub" chapters. See the above answer about lack of participation in the chat room.
I don't have all the answers. I started this thread to open some eyes and to try and come up with some answers and more participation in the chat room.
In other words, I don't want the chapter to die, I want it to get back to the great chapter it once was. I cannot do it alone. I do appreciate the help some have given but it takes time.
I don't want to run around in circles answering you. The only thing I can say is it takes more than names on a membership list to make a chapter. I don't care if you have 200 members, it takes the participation of the members to make the club run. No-one seems to be in the chat room with the exception of the Secretary and the Treasurer on most Sundays. If we are there at 8:00pm Central time and no-one else comes in by 8:15, we call it a night. Dennis and I communicate through the use of phones to talk about what we are thinking most of the time.
David
By the way, it is the chat room which is accessed through the GLTDR website, not the TDR chat room
