I was chatting with one of the guys on the chat room tonight and the topic of Dr. Performance's record claims came up. He's claiming 790 hp/1590 ft/lbs on a dyno - anyone know where that was set - it does seem to be the highest claimed yet? The two that I have an issue with is the supposed land speed record of 148 mph supposedly set on 8/17/99 - then why is it that the C/DT (the diesel truck class he'd run in) record was set in 8/87 at 159. 647 mph ( http://www.scta-bni.org/ ) - and he's listed NOWHERE on the records even in a different class? He's also claiming the QUICKEST ACCELERATING PRODUCTION DIESEL PICKUP (12. 5 SECONDS, 109 MPH - 1/4 MILE RECORD) - Autowurks posted an 11. 53 @ 69 mph at Munce, IN June 10th - they blew the turbo at the 1000 ft mark and coasted through the lights. They look to me like inflated claims!

did I get you that rialed up????

Well I am sorry that I got you that rialed up, but can't we call this out once and for all??

Dr. Pi$$formance printing lies... ... ... ... ... ... ... NOoooooooooooo cant BE.....

How about this????

Hey Steve,,How about this for getting to the bottom,,Can we not take a group of us in a caravan out to Dr. Non-Performances shop and have a dyno dropped in their lot run buy the same gang from Muncie and tell him its time to put up or shut up,,See by doing this it will cure two things,1-His totally outrageous hp and torque claims and 2-Give us a chance to circle the wagons, since we did not yet get to do it at the bad fuel shop for you,,I am certain that if it was got together correctly you'd probably have a caravan of trucks that would take up alot of highway going there,,So who do we vote for the lead truck,Steve or Briar Hopper???... ... ... ... ... .

I'll step up to the plate. anywhere, anytime, put my truck and money where my mouth is. Steve may not be running as much power as I am, but his truck is done right, and I'd wager he can beat a Dr. P-P truck, himself. A lot of us could, for that matter.

The big deal to me here, as always, is how the misleading advertising can rope in unsuspecting Cummins Ram owners...

I wish we had some way to shut them up... all the options available to do that are costly, both in time and money...

If we got any attorneys in the TDR willing to do it pro bono, maybe we could raise the court costs ourselves to file a false advertising suit against them.

Better yet, I'd like to see a heavy hitter like Diesel Dynamics step up, and come out with an effective counter-advertising campaign.

Steve, 790 horsepower is attainable if you run at high altitude. We posted a 683 here in Pahrump on Saturday with a 4% correction factor, with 658 actual HP. At Speedzone in ID, Cummintstrkn posted 717hp with a 13% correction factor, making around 634 actual HP. With this in mind, if you went to somewhere higher than Pocatello, you could get even a bigger number with a larger correction factor and less HP.

Regarding the land speed record... he does have one on the books at El Mirage for 125. 745 set in 11/98 in C/DT... a far cry from his claimed 148mph!

Keith, yes, we know it's attainable. Mostly by YOU guys at DD... .

Our objection to Dr. P here, is the falsely inflated advertising. They have a long record of doing so, and not delivering to the customers what they claimed they would.

Challenge them publicly to a dyno run, why don't you, please? I'll lay good money on it that they won't show up, even if you bring a portable dyno to their doorstep. They know they'll lose.

Effective and clever counter-advertising on your part, in the usual truck and RV magazines, might gain you more customers than you would believe, and save more than a few people from being flim-flammed...

You are already doing something about it...

With as many well stated opinions as there are above, you are all sticking it to Dr. P. You all stated facts above, and I now will never even entertain buying any Dr. Performance items ever... One way to shut the Dr. up would be to boycott him...

Before I found the TDR, one of the first companies that I found when searching the web for Dodge/Cummins performance parts was the Dr. Performance site. When I started looking around in the TDR website I searched and came across a bunch of Dr. P bashing posts that swayed me away from him. I would imagine by spreading the word, you could do just as much damage as a long and costly lawsuit...

Excellent point, JLinder, thank you. But actually in my case, I had seen and heard of Dr. Perpetration a long, long time before I ever stumbled across the TDR. I hand out brochures for the TDR every time I meet a Dodge Cummins owner around town or at the pumps, even in other states, but still there are thousands out there unaware. You can't save the world, and I'm not trying to. Fortunately, performance packages for these trucks are not very often an impulse purchase, most people do a lot of research first.

It was the high cost of the Dr. Penetration system that made me suspicious, so I started looking around, and tripped over the TDR. I got lucky.

First Time I have ever seen the Dr. P site. .

Looked around,, chuckled a bit, especially about the no need for an EGT gauge part... (even a stock motor should have an EGT gauge)

Thought I'd take a peek at prices,, GOOD LORD!!!!

TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR 70 HORSEPOWER !!!!!

That would go from 230HP to 300HP. What's the deal !?!?!

I paid less than $600 for a PE COMP and $350 for DD1's and am at ~375RWHP.

That's Less than $1K ($950) for an increase of 145HP.

MerrickNJr

I'm with you Briar Hopper, This guy Rippin' people off as fast as he can.

Merrick, buddy, that ain't the worst of it. The worst part is a few TDR members have posted that they did NOT attain the horsepower levels that they paid for ! There are others whose story hasn't been told here, I also know of a neighbor in Kentucky that dyno'ed his Dr. Poorhouse truck, had 40HP less than he paid for. A discrepancy of 10 - 20 HP could be blamed on other factors, maybe, like the dyno, the atmospheric pressure, etc. , but 40? No, I think not.

Human? Yeah, he's human. Just greedy and cold-hearted. It does happen to some people. Maybe he had a childhood that would make Joe Dirt's look like a fairy tale.

Brair, I've got your claim taken care of.

"Can out run, out pull, out drag any Dr. Performance equipped Cummins Ram, for 1/3 the cost of their kit. "

Dr. P = $3,995. 00 for 150HP

Me = $950. 00 for 145 HP

There we go,, anybody else. :) ?

MerrickNJr

P. S. What should I do with the $3045 I saved?

Merrick,

I was just on a different thread asking for money. It seems to me that you must have a full pocket with all the saving. :D :D I need a cam and head for DD, you have the money, I have the want. What a combination. :D :D :D :D :D :D That's a fair deal don't you think?

You guys should go meet him. Hes actually a hella guy. I have met him and have some mutual friends with him.

He is very good with diesel and gasser rigs.

Races more than diesel trucks too.

Better to go and have a beer with him and see for yourself before you bad mouth the guy.

Dr.P and the TDR

If this guy is a genuine rip-off artist why does the TDR continue to run his adds in the Magazine???

Well, Don M, it figures that you would find him likeable. One good sphincter deserves another. :D His actions speak for themselves. I don't care if he's the nicest guy in the world in person(I have it on good authority that he's not) I'll judge him how I want to judge him, for how he is ripping people off. I'm not the only one that thinks so.
