signal lite problems

Running the other day with flatbed trailer loaded with Jeep. Had to turn headlites on due to rain. Right turn signal would not work or flashers with headlites on. Turn headlites off, right signal lite works but odometer flashes with right signal lite. Disconnect trailer all lites on truck operate properly. Any ideas? It must be something with trailer but what?

Check your ground connection to the trailer.
