What are the signs of a booster leak on a '96 2500 automatic?



I have intermittent spongy brakes, no brake fluid loss, cruise control stopped working although engine pacbrake and a/c vents work fine.

Spongy pedal is usually caused by air in the system. But thin brake drums or substandard lines and hoses can cause spongy pedal also. Bleed air out of system,replace thin drums and suspect old lines and hoses.

On personal note My Niece(one of them,I have few of them) and Family is moving to AZ sometime next summer. Have to find out what city.

Forgot the cruise problem check the servo under driver's side battery tray.

Usually it's air in the lines. BUT, I've seen poor lines to the booster cause a problem with vacuum, and poor performing vacuum pumps, which work fine at higher RPMs, but the brakes don't act properly at idle..... Does it feel fine cruising down the highway and just feel spongy when idling around town?

I am down with the flu... . not good. Four of five in my family are sick. I just moved from AZ to ID a few months back. Where are they going? I found a youtube repair of the servo... . need to try it.

Could be air. It is very imtermittent thought. The truck appears to have original booster on it. Need to check air lines. Rebuklt my vac pump last yr. Everything else that runs on vac works fine.

If the rubber hoses going to front wheels are the originals, they could be tired and be expanding under pressure, that could cause the spongy pedal. When I changed my master cylinder, I had to use a power bleeder to bleed out all of the air in the system and that stopped my spongy pedal.

Don't know my brother mentioned it but I forgot. They went out to AZ to check it out. Unfortunately they won't have Gandparents out there to babysit the kids.



Flu plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. For myself when I coming down with something (which isn't often) I eat a piece (section) of raw garlic (chinese).



There is a solenoid and I believe a vaccum line hooked to the servo.

That flu was miserable!!!
New brake lines last year.
Took apart cruise servo, nice and clean. Put it back together. The tiny cruise vacuum line was corroded and loose. Fixed that.
Brake lights have not come back on!
Haven't had spongy brakes again.
I need to replace all of the vacuum lines. wish someone would put together a kit to do this. The local auto suppliers don't have the proper rubber boots, so I'm not sure I could redo the system unless I went to Dodge.
