Here is a way to get a little more air in the Cummins; we have been successful in doubling the air flow requirements of the Cummins. This is the new Stainless Steel ZZ custom fabrication side entrants manifold. This along with the new Cam Profile should really work with the needed larger turbo. We are getting ready to go and raise the mph of Project X diesel to close to or over 170 MPH

You realize that is past rotate speed right ;)

I really like that setup, the head... . it would have to be a 12V and the manifold! How sweet would that look on my 12V! Problem is money, it's just cheaper for me to pressurize it more and throw a bigger pill in!

Thanks for the pics though Greg, keep them coming.

Comp, sorry if it's a silly Q, but why/whats the reason for the side entrance manifold? Is the S/S available for the standard 12V ZZ manifold?

Who all is doing heavy porting these days???? Seems as though RayMac has gotten very proud

Comp, what mounts to the boss on the bottom of that plenum in your bottom pic?

That was one of the original manifolds. When Greg Young made those he used a stock cummins head as a template for sll of the bosses and mounts.

Our trucks don't use that boss. But, some industrial apps do.

ZZ didn't know that there were unneeded bosses on the factory head, so he added them to the new manifold anyway. Now that he knows they sre unneeded, he ahs modified the original design.

The newer manifolds dont have that particular boss.

The side entrance allows for better distribution, and reduces the numbers of bends necessary to get air in the engine.

The nitrous placement on the manifold is critical to making the maximum intercooling effect, and is not possible unless you have a progressive system. This allows for infinite control on the rate and amount of nitrous. The thought use to be to place the first stage on the hot side of the intercooler allows a non progressive system to run a bigger jet and use the heat coming out of the compressor to keep from stunting the engine.

With this spray bar you get to use the nitrous to effect maximum intercooling effect , and use the progressive ability to bring it on as boost ramps up, this in effect allows boost and nitrous quantity to feed off each other in a chain reaction

The boss is for a stock fuel filter, and is not on unless you request it. .

You Get what you pay for , and that is a primary reason Ray is covered up, and has two and some times three head porters working on diesel heads, . The real question is can you afford to go else where, the quality of air flow coming out of the airflow engineering department of RayMac is second to none. Chris Frank is the chief airflow specialists, and he is use to working on Pro Stock DRCE III and NASCAR developmental programs , but the diesel market has warranted his attention

Funny question , everytime on project X and about 30 other trucks where I provide the tech on for NX . It is absolutly the smoothest set up out there , when you understand it. I helped NX lay out the way it should work, and have gone thru two genarations of Protypes

I'd like to try one of those some day and have found one used that someone didn't use on there system, problem is I'm going to be too deep $ wise in my current project to spend money on the 98'... ... ... . ah how nice it would be to just buy what you want.

Greg, keep us up on that project, some of us are really interested.

BOTW, the Bullet holds 55 psi with both stages of Gas, wonder what it's going to do with the Flows installed... ... ... . scary ride for having new tires on.

Use a switch and teach it 12 volts is full throttle, and turn on the switch. The switch is necessary for safety thou.

.

we ended up calling the manufacturer of the controller. the NX tech support couldn't/wouldn't tell us how to do it.

it wouldn't work with the AAPS, and this truck doesn't make any boost unless you're on the throttle, so we're just using the boost reference

Well decide now what your going to build for in the HP game so you do it once. Seeing that you have a 24V I would still go with a Silver 62 and a S400 on bottom, I say that because I know there are some trick wheels for them. It's all up to you to say with and rebuild your existing turbo.

That statement of High HP and good EGT should never be used in the same Paragraph, it will not happen. High HP will get you high EGT's, you cannot get enough air in the motor as the head is too restrictive.

Jim

i dont if it helps much but i intend to get a lot of my horsepower from air flow not just pressure. im sure by the time i get around to that point that there will be more head options if not ill either port one out myself or buy one thats flows better. my plan is to build a motor to drop in though the parts like turbos injectors things like that im buying now ill just swap over. also plan to use extensive use of coatings from techline.

Jim don't forget to post on the towing test drive, I am about to buy a Silver 64 for my '03, you can check truck profile as to upgrades, they told me for where I'm at this would be better than a full Silver Bullet, I tow about 8-9000 lb trailer when I work, unfortuantely construction has slowed quite a bit, and not towing everday right now. I also have future plans for the truck as well, I WANT MORE, :-laf, thanks again.

I have this turbo on my 99 5 speed and wondering how get it to spool up before a race. My sig is not updated but i have a street cam, 8X. 016 injectors, smarty, edge, bigger valves, water, and N2O, with a south bend double disk to hold it all. Any help would be great, Thanks.
