I'm thinking of adding the sirius radio option to my truck. Does anyone have this option? How does it work with the dodge radio? Does it show the name of the song and artist like on the plug and play setup?

Thanks John

The sone/artist thing depends on your radio. I have it on the base AM/FM/CD radio and love it. Haven't mounted the antenna, just have it sitting on the dash. I ain't real fond of the idea of drilling a hole in the roof.

As far as I know, the only Dodge OEM radio that shows song title and artist is the RB1 Navigation System.

See http://www.klenger.net/dodge/audio/index.htm for info on the audio systems. I have the Sirius option (dealer accy) on my truck with the RBQ and it works fine. My biggest complaint with Sirius is the lack of fidelity due to high digital compression. I assume that XM is the same way.

I have the Sirius and the 6 disc in dash changer,it does not display song title or artist. But for 1 year free subscription,I figured it was well worth the 200. 00 or so when I ordered the truck.

I have it and love it i have the 6 disc in dash radio rbq and it does not show names or songs just the channel number such as 80's hits. i also didn't want to drill a hole in my roof so i opted to go for the magnet antenna. ran the wire down the third brake light in the back had to buy the splitter and works great since the antenna is about the size of a quarter. :)

I was hoping it gave the read out on the radio screen. I have the basic am/fm/cd radio. I don't want the navigation radio. How about any good aftermarket radios for sirius? any rrecommendations?

I'm using a Clarion VRX935 with Sirius. With the screen closed I can get the channel title, song title, or artist, depending on which one I have it set for. With the screen open, I can get all the information on the screen. I don't know about the display for other aftermarket units.

Ive got XM. The thing I like about it is the tuner I have has the FM modulator. That means set your radio a set dial ( there are options ) and plug it in to your cig. lighter and whala! It displays song, station, and / or artist. Plus, I can switch trucks in under 1 minute and go. It also came with a "home kit". I dont really get into the whole political... well howard stern is going to sirius and opie and anthony are on XM. I bought it for the music. Its WELL worth the $$$. I dont know but sirius might have the FM modulator type tuner as well.

I have the same setup as you do, one of the things I like about the FM modulator is that when I pull my truck into my shop I can leave the XM tuner on and tune in my honkin home stereo to the same FM frequency and enjoy.

Both XM and Sirius have the "plug and play" modules that run through an FM modualtor, but both have teamed up with aftermarket stereo mfg's to offer XM ready or Sirius ready tuners. The module is hidden under a seat or behind the dash and all controls are right on the head unit.

I have XM in my truck with a modulator and Sirius in my Jeep with an RB1 radio and the XM is much better. I can pick it up better and the channel selections are better as well. I have the antenae mounted on my roof with double side tape and the wire running inside my 3rd brake light. No holes drilled. It's great on trips.

Thats what i have on my 94 is the plug and play, but there doesn't look like enough room to mount it anywhere on my 05. That why i was thinking about just getting the sirius option or an aftermarket. I do however like seeing the song titles on the screen.

Klenger, Gadgetman and DJamrose-

If you would. . please check out post #33 here and let me know if you can bring up artist name and song that way.

Also curious to know if it will stay in that mode when you turn off the truck and then back on

Thanks!

I added It to my truck and love It

My 2004 Dodge tr has the NAV radio but not Siruis radio but my wife's Chrysler 300 does have Siruis so when I called I got It for less then 7 dollars a month. The unit I have In my truck I bought at Best Buy and works super. I can take It to my Motor Home or any car or truck I want. Best way for me to go. If you have a friend that has Siruis you can go on his plan for half price I went on my wife's plan for half. :-laf

I probably will do another PnP because I like the Artist Name and Song title info, plus you can program favorite song alerts, do search by artist etc. .

The DC hardware is more clean, costs more but less features. Always seems to be trade offs in doing changes.

I've been around and around on that. It irks me that over the air FM stations show song title and artist but not Sirius.

So I figured I'd get me an RB4 off of the eBay guy (who by the way, will give you 150$ for your RBQ) but then I'd lose my 6-cd changer in the dash. Which means an external CD changer. I have it all figured out thanks to this site and artie. You can run the sirius and a mopar CD changer into a muliplexer and then into the radio.

Then I realized that by the time I bought the RB4 and the multiplexer/cable kit and the special cable to get song/title and the mopar CD changer... I was pretty much in the ballpark of an aftermarket system. And I didn't really want the NAV radio anyway, just the display.

So now that Pac-Audio has the steering wheel control adapter out (no way am I doing anything if I lose the steering wheel controls), I am getting an Alpine of some flavor that accepts satellite radio, either XM or Sirius.

Only thing... . the Dodge Sirius player won't plug into it so need one of those that will. Oh well, I figured at least I could still use the antenna but no dice on that either. ha ha ha! All the new sat radios take the single input antenna and I have not found an adapter to convert the two into one. They do have the other direction.

So the whole kit and kaboodle is on the way out. All because the #*&^#^* RBQ will not show title and artist. :-laf :-laf :-laf

Anyone know if I add the Sirius option to my 6 disc indash stock radio 6 months after I bought the truck, will I get the 12 months free service if I buy the system from the Diodge dealer???

On FM- how do you display song title and artist on the RBQ?

That actually depends on the FM station's broadcasting options. Some stations will set their airwaves to display the text, some do not. Most of the time mine will just say the station's call numbers and their motto, ex; "97. 3FM Alice... ..... Today's music".

I have RBQ, Infinity and Sirius and the display options suck. The sound quality is really nice though
