Just got my renewal notice for my Sirius sub. Are they serious! $142. 45 + $21. 79 royalty fee for my truck and $98. 89 + $10. 68 royalty fee for my boombox. That's crap. Like using the trucks on long trips, get tired of the same CD's and radio surfing. The boombox is for camping. It's nice to listen to the NASCAR races too. Did without it before and I'm going to do without it again. They can scratch another subscription of their damn list, I ain't paying that much for a few hours of commercial, but not talk, free music.

I know there is another 5 page thread on this subject, but I wanted to start another and vent.

Anybody want to add to this.

They would already be off the air if I had anything to do with it. Cancelled my subscription a few months ago, took the radio out and stored it. Had tried to listen to college football on Saturdays and could not. Everytime I punched in a channel number, it said that it was not a good number. Finally gave up and when the subscription was out, told them to cancel. They took $56 out of my bank account, they had my debit card number and just charged it again. They have it in their files that I asked to be cancelled but took the money anyway, said that I told the wrong person. Had to cancel the debit card so that they couldn't get any more money. It was their fault but they won't refund the money. Just got a survey from them and filled it out. Probably won't do any good but their prices have gone up and it is not worth the price, especially if you can't listen to what you want. Going to smash the radio so nobody else will donate them any more money. I can get more songs on one mp3 than they play on a channel. They did try to run the card again after I cancelled twice! Somebody needs to straighten these people out and stop them from stealing money.

I asked the lifetime question last year, ie, the Radio's lifetime, my lifetime or Sirius' lifetime. They told me that it was my lifetime or the lifetime of three consecutive radios. In other words you can move the lifetime subscription to another replacement receiver twice after the initial purchase. After the third receiver craps out you would have to buy another plan. Fair enough to me. :)

Sorry, but did you get this in writing? The reason I asked is; I was told just for the receiver in the vehicle that you have the subscription issued to. This is why they want the receiver number. I had this discussion in Nov 07, and I should have gotten it then. Did not, I was not sure if I would like it then. Since they bought out XM radio and changed the format along with H. Stern, I have canceled my subscription.

Sirius has since contacted me three times and the latest offer is $77. a year + the $21. 95 tax for one year only, then regular rates will apply. I said my answer is still no until you eliminate H. Stern, from the air waves. Knowing they will not do that.

Huh? Where's the problem? The royalty fee is out of Sirius/XM's hands. Our beloved government got their greedy sticky fingers in Sirius/XM's cookie jar with this royalty feel earlier this year. It sucks, but it's not Sirius/XM's fault. While it peeves me that I have to pay less than $2 extra a month, that outweighs the pain of listening to crap programming on terrestial radio.

First radio: $142. 45 + $21. 79 = 13. 68 month
Second radio: $98. 89 + $10. 68 = 9. 13 month

No, not in writing but I specificly asked them "What happens if my receiver goes bad, can I transfer the service to another unit??". She said you can do that twice during the lifetime subscription. In otherwords, three units. Now that was before the XM buyout so maybe they dumped it, I had no reason to question her answer as I have had zero trouble with them or the service.

I don't care for the new royalty fees but greedy musicians (like Metallica) and the bottom feeders that survive from the music buisiness got enough lawyers together to make it happen, not only Satellite radio but on the internet. Now I refuse to buy any CD's. Their loss, I'll get the music somewhere for free.

I had purchased several ringtones for my previous cellphone and upgraded to a newer phone at the same provider. They switched content from old phone to new phone, except for the ringtones!! I asked why that was as I had purchased my ringtones from that provider for the old phone and were my property. No way would they do it, almost walked out I was so mad. Gave up and found sites on the internet for free to download anything for a ringtone that I want. All it does is drive smart people to find alternatives.

Reading their "Lifetime" clause it shows if you have the lifetime on a portable receiver, it can be moved 3 times on new portables. However on your truck, it is strickly for the life of the truck/receiver. If you buy/ trade for a new truck you have to get a new sub.

You want to work and not get paid for it? Regardless whether they have millions in the bank or 5 bucks in the bank, doesnt matter. They wrote the music, and should get paid for it. Plain and simple.

I no longer subscribe to Sirius. They decided not only were they going to charge me the $142 a year, but they also decided they wanted to charge me on a monthly basis as well. Hmmm, I can solve that pretty easy. That, and they got rid of Buzzsaw in the merger, and there was no draw to it. My iPod does just fine and dandy

My renewal is up, and I think I posted earlier in the 5 page thread. I called to cancel at the beginning of this month. They inquired as to the reason, told them it was because the royalty fee, and on top of it, I was having a hard time simply justifying the regular $142 due to all the extra "I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER-chat" and DJs that weren't there before the merger w/ XM. They said OK, how 'bout $80 for one year, no royalty fee. I said OK.

I finally got around to calling today. After an initial conversation with a customer service rep, I was transferred to a different representative. I told him I was unhappy with the rate increases for royalties, internet radio, and 2nd radio discount. He said he understood and offered me 50% off on both my subscriptions. I accepted, got both radios renewed for a year from today, and got a $19 credit based on what was left on my existing annual subscriptions.

Not too painful. Probably 10 minutes on hold for each rep and 30 minutes total.

I just called and canceled both my truck and my boombox. Took 5 minutes and they never offered any discounts. Just said okay why and I told them with the royalties it was too expensive. They said no problem and cut the account. Going to by me a nice ipod with the money.
