Yep, after waiting for 3 years, I finally took the plunge and levelled my truck. Can't count the threads I've read about it, trucks I've drooled over, etc.

After researching the install procedure on here (ain't the search feature great?), I decided to start taking my truck apart. Driver's side went easy as cake. I took Damon's advice about the 24" extension... extremely valuable advice. I also noted that the older style bushings are no longer being shipped with the Bilsteins. Mine came with a set that was very similar to stock.

The install went as planned, almost. After I got the driver's side done, which involved removing the lower bolt for the upper link, I tackled the passenger side. Expecting it to go easier, I was surprised that it was actually harder. Removing the bottom shock bolt was the hardest part and took some creative wrenching. Once everything was apart, the new shocks and springs went in easily.

Cool, now that it sat level, it was time to replace the rear shocks. Got the stockers removed without a hitch. Went to install the new Bilsteins... opened the boxes and one of the shocks was wrong. It had the right part number on the box and on the shock, but it had a bayonet end instead of an eye on the frame mount side. Oh well... I'll call OffRoadWarehouse tomorrow and see if they'll make it right. I have faith they will. I was reminded of how important it is to check all your parts before you begin a project like this though... .

So, the truck is sitting in my driveway, levelled and only running 3 shocks. Makes for an interesting ride... doubt I'll go very far in it until I get that other shock in. I'll take pics and post them in my readers rigs section later today or tomorrow.

Thanks JP. That will be her maiden voyage... . to the alignment shop.

As a follow up, OffRoad Warehouse is sending me the correct rear shock via 2nd Day Air (at their cost on the shipping, should be here Wednesday). AWESOME customer service by Sonny there. I couldn't be a happier client.

considering the tire size you have, and a level kit. Is your garage door 7ft and does the truck fit under it ? Thanks

I was just wondering. I've got a 01 Sport and it doesn't seem to sit any lower in the front. At first I was thinking of lifting the front, but I think it will actually raise the front higher than the rear.

Do all trucks sit with the nose down or does the Sport have higher rate springs in the front.

Thanks

Kat, the truck will not fit in the garage lengthwise anyway... these newer houses have SMALL garages. So, parking in there was not an option. But, to answer your question, the truck sits right around 81" (6'11") tall. Needless to say, I won't be going into any garages without at least 7' clearance.

Jrowe, seems like the snow plow prep group includes front springs that are taller and stiffer than the "regular" non-snow plow prep trucks, however the spring mounts are in the same place. At least, I think I read that somewhere :). The D25 springs provide 2. 5" lift over the regular ones, so I believe your truck would still sit level with them.

Honestly, if your truck sits level enough for you, the spring "upgrade" may not be worth it. However, if you have stock shocks on your truck, the shock upgrade is DEFINITELY worth it, IMO.

My installation of D25's causes my truck to lean slighty toward the driver side. Irritates me to no end.

The T-Rex springs are different left and right to prevent this problem.

Rich,

FWIW, I read on here that the left side of the truck is normally heavier than the right (driver weight plus inequality in the truck itself). In that same post the owner suggested swapping the springs side to side to even them out. I dunno, but it seemed plausable to me. If I find the truck doing the "Dodge Lean" thing, I may swap the springs side to side and see what happens.

A side-to-side swap won't help because the D25s are the same rate.

I wish I would have gone with the T-rex coils instead of my D25s. They are so much better it's really a disservice to even compare them.
