Competition T-Case went

Off Roading Pismo

I think at Muncie someone broke one of those. Chevy guy I think. Got out about 50' and broke. Ask ole Sleddy about a pic of his, might want to look at it but there are many hitch configurations

seems to be a lot of opinions on this. a lot probley have never pulled or even been to a pull and just repeating what everyone else says. ( there is a lot of that on this tdr website). my hitch on my puller, built for pullin only, is a 2in square 1/4 thick adjustable for different hights has never broken in 15 years. go to a pull and look at the mod and open class pullers then you come in and tell us how its done. as for pullin on your reciever, it will bend before you break by the hole you drilled.

I would think your factory receiver would fail in some fashion before the drawbar you built would. I wouldn't weld the clevis solid either. I welded a vertical plate to the top of the snout on my receiver that is welded to a horizontal plate that bolts onto the trucks bumper in the three provided factory ball mounting holes. I figure if anything... it'll help to keep the snout on the factory receiver from bending down while pulling. I'll try and dig up some picts...

Another note... . if that clevis would ever bend, I would think that it would bend inwards - towards your drawbar, vs outwards where it could "pop" off the pin... Obviously solid bar would be "better" but in my opinion you'll be just fine.

One thing you can do is strap the top and bottom of the drawbar back to where it meets up with the reciever snout when inserted - to strengthen the critical top and bottom of the drawbar since your holes for the receiver pin and pulling clevis are horizonal taking material out of the sides of the drawbar. Easy add on... little more gloss black...

Here's what I think... take it or leave it. Pull with it. It's your truck your rig. Personally I wouldn't. I have seen people pulling another truck out of the ditch break a 1/4in hollow shaft. What does a sled weigh... . varies... . More than a truck stuck in the snow. Downward force. Watch some of the pulling videos and say that. I pulled one time. That is THE MOST my truck has ever squated. Did I run somethign like that. Nope. Will I claim what I used is the best. Nope. Will I claim that mine will hold up for years. Nope. But I am VERY CAREFULLY watching mine to make sure it is ok. Is mine a hollow shaft, no way. Check out that post that Tisdale has. Looks similar to me.

Just ask Duluth Diesel... I have found many times that Overkill is never enough.

Thanks TurboTweaker,

I was just looking for examples of designs that are holding up. How many hooks on it?

HAHAHA Jim funny funny. if you were going to pull more than once i'd make you one but your only pulling ONCE! soif you have enuff power to break it we're in trouble. .

Andy,

Are you going to be in St. Cloud at the pulls Thursday? I don't have time to make one before then, and that sure beats the he!! out of what I was going to use. If not, I may just have to take some time off work to whip something together! Priorities, Priorities... .

i dont know if i will be there or not but you are more than welcome to use it. i can run that way and meet you in the middle somewhere. im in rockford east of buffalo.
