Off Roading Anybody Use Air Lockers

Competition lots of up grades and no go!!

Greg,

Yeah, travel is your enemy in pulling. I know all about it. I co drive a class 8 truck in the desert - your best bet is not to strap it down, because it will still squat it. Find a way to get something in where your bump stop is that is solid and takes up the space - maintaining minimum of 2". I made an adjustable stop that goes in place of the factory rubber bump stop, it can be adjusted from about 4" to 0" of travel. f you can come up with something you are better off. If not, just let her rip how it is.

Air bags can help when used in conjuction with regular leafs. But any filling device must be disconnected after going through tech. They don't want someone teching with a 26" hitch height, then pumping their bags up raising the hitch. Otherwise you are good. I wouldn't worry about your input shaft at your power level - should be fine.

Craig

I have to air mine up externally, so I don't have a filling device. That means I can fill them up and go through tech, and not worry about it, right? What kind of hitch do I need? I have never pulled before.

Alright,

We are starting to get some entries now - and some Dodge guys more importantly. Keep them coming guys - Hey, where the heck were all of you at the High Desert Diesel Roundup? Should be fun.

Craig

Hey Tom,

How much does your truck weigh? If its not over 7500, might as well enter both 7500 and 8500 - good for the experience - not like we get to pull every day. You can weight less than the limit just not more. Is Chris a friend of yours?

Chris is my roomate, we are both in the Navy Seabees (None of that boat crap) stationed at Port Hueneme, CA. We weighed our trucks yesterday, and his weighed a touch over 7000 with him in it, and mine wieghed 7820 with me in it. I don't know if I could lose that much wieght but I could try. I will get back to you.

Craig,

I thought I read that in the stock class, No 4" outlet on the turbo. I have a DD Jammer turbo and it is 4". Will I be able to pull with it on the truck?

Greg

We are taking care if this 3. 5" outlet deal. Don't worry about it. We will have another way of teching chargers and the 40 will easily fit in. It will probably be an inducer size limit. I will inform for sure. It is silly that an HX 40 would not be eligible in a street class of pulling - So don't worry about the HX 40 thing. There is a limit to the size of the charger, but oulet won't be what we use to judge that.

OK,

HX 40's are in the clear. We will be using the Maximum 2. 5" inducer limit which the hx 40 has no trouble meeting. This is the measurement of the "front" side of the compressor wheel at the inlet of the turbo. This is similar to what is used at many pulls around the country. I think it makes more sense than the 3. 5" outlet limitation - which unfortunately is the rule that I used to spec. my turbo. Everyone happy? Anyone who hasn't registered please do so and you will be added to the entry list. Go here for registration
