Off Roading Anybody Use Air Lockers

Competition lots of up grades and no go!!

BBD, are you going to be there??? I was looking forward to seeing your truck in person.

A couple more questions, are adjustable hitches allowed? How big does the shackle need to be?? (6T??, 4T??)

I know Scott will speak for himself - but unfortunately I don't think he is making this one - long haul. As for the hitch, it can be adjustable, you just can't change it once you go through tech. They like to see at least a 3" inner diameter on the ring.

OK,

Anybody interested in pulling who hasn't signed up, get with it. Go to the link mentioned earlier in this post and fill out the entry form - Fax it to the number on the sheet and we'll see you guys on Saturday. This will probably be So Calif's last chance to pull this year so come on. We need to give all the D max guys something to think about over the winter.

Hard to say. It is supposed to stop raining tomorrow - that gives it two days to dry out. Weather is supposed to be nice on Saturday so hopefully it will be ok. It depends on what the dirt is like in the stadium. If the organizer gets on it as soon as he can - hopefully we will be ok. Until I hear otherwise - I'm planning on being there.

Testing today, I smoked the clutch. New Bullydog Downloader, EZ on level 6 and DD Jammer Turbo. Lots of power. Walked right through an already tired clutch. I will try to make it down there but I cant pull..... Sorry Craig.

Had a fun day out at the pulls but unfortunately I had terrible hooks. For this event, I brought a LOT more motor than usual and a lot more tire. I doubt I was out powered, but that extra bit of traction that those tires provided proved to be my demise. After the last pull at the Diesel Roundup, I decided I needed a more aggressive tire than what my street tires for these loose California tracks. Well, as luck would have it the track this weekend was about as tacky of clay as I had ever seen - like glue. Long story short, all that bite combined with a tall gear and lots more fuel than usual made for some violent hopping on both of my hooks and I had to get out of it if I wanted to drive home. On both trys, by the time the clutch was all the way engaged, my truck was shaking so bad I thought it was comig apart. I probably could have pulled a sissy gear and at least made something happen, but I wanted to give it a solid effort. Its one thing to get beat, its another to get beat not even getting a solid hook to make a run at it. As it turns out, I should have left my street tires on and probably wouldn't have had the problem. Live and learn - that was my lesson in track reading. Anyway, another real good showing for the D Max's, guess they will end the season on a high note and leave the rest of us to ponder over the winter. Congrats to D max Doug, John from DPS and Tim and Pat on the trophys. Also a big thanks to Pat "McRat" for pulling this all together. I'm down but not out. Just remember fellas, its harder to stay on top than to get there - and I'm comin'. :D

I saw the pics on the website, did that guy from High Roller Off-road pull his truck? I saw that lifted dually in the pics and it looked like he lined up for a pull. Wish I could have seen that. Wish I could have got another look at his chick, too. :--) :-laf

Those damn Duramax's must be running some hidden propane or nitrous or something, cuz they just killed the entire crowd. I guess those Allison autos really can hold up to a sled pull.

They aren't running any hidden fuels, I teched them. The D max can make big power gains on sowftware alone, and after they put 3-4 grand in to the transmission's, they run really hard. The Cummins is a different beast all together, for the ISB's, they require software and some hard parts to get the same power. That isn't bad, just different. The parts are available and relatively cheap. The two different injection systems require different methods to increase fueling. The D max's don't have the hard parts available to them, and if they did, they may not see the gains that we do because of the way their motors work. But they are workin' on it. Anyway, I just blew it with tire choice, but I wasn't out powered. We'll get em next time. None of the other Dodge guys had ever pulled and their trucks weren't set up for it at all - but they are hooked now so we'll see.

Craig,

I am so sorry I didn't make it. I had major clutch failure the day before. I installed a powerpup, DD Jammer and the EZ all at the same time. I guess 500 HP was too much for the stock clutch. I can get it rolling still but it chatters real bad. I'll be ready for the next one. FE goes in in a week or two.

No worries Greg, you wouldn't have wanted a hurt clutch on this track. As for getting an FE, you might want to consider a dual disc if you plan on doing more than one or 2 pulls. Southbend has them and so do others. Even the strong singles are no match for a hard launch with the sled. You can kill one in one pull. Just something to think about.

Craig

Hi Tim, What are you going to do with it. You don't need one anyway your truck runs great. Third place in the truck pull is doing pretty good.
