Slider 5th Wheel

I hope it is ok to post this here as it IS related to hauling.



If anyone has an auto-slider 5th wheel hitch they are getting rid of, please let me know. The new Mega is too tight with just my manual slider.

The Pull Rite Super Glide is a good automatic 5er hitch. However, you must modify it or you could possibly loose your fifth wheel trailer and worse - hurt someone. Read this thread before you get one:

MMerlino, Does Pulliam agree with you and have they made a change?? I read your write up BTW. . very good stuff. If I could get mine to quit clunking on take off and while stopping, I would be a happy camper. Pullrite is working w/ me but they have not solved my problem yet.

A better solution is the 5th Airborne Sidewinder I got on my 36' 5th wheel. .

This allows my short bed truck to do a full 90 deg turn with alot of clearance.

This is a shot of the unit hooked up. The unit stays solid to the hitch via a bar that goes in the throat of the hitch, then the pivot is back by the mount. This gives you 20" of "SLIDE". . so to speak so that you can do 90 deg turn. .

The unit is like $1400 If I remember correctly... The Auto slider with the super rails is like $2000

Eric, I almost went with that solution at first as I wanted that system bad, but when I spoke to the manufacturer of my frame, they told me they would void my warrany if I used that system (Lippert). They said the pin box was not designed for side loads like that. I have heard that they since changed their design to accomodate that but that was too late for me.



BTW. . my slider was $1600 delivered complete.
