I would Just like to know what you all have going to the CON FE That South Bend Clutch has.

I'm not crying or anything just curious as to why I am now on my second ConFE and 2nd Flywheel if you count Factory as one.

All I have is DD3s and a Comp Box but tonight I haven't run it hard all night and went to pass a couple of cars it started slipping again.

All I want to know is what are you guys are throwing at these clutches. I am just a little confused. I have worked on Cummins engines and went to there schools and followed the install personaly but nothing seems wrong. So tomorrow I will pull the transmission to find out how much lining is off this clutch.

Peter If you see this before monday I am NOT bad mouthing just wondering why my truck is slipping the clutches. Your products are great from what I have heard and seen just don't understand what is going on with my Truck. I will call you Monday to ask more Questions.

Sorry For The Long Post Just Bothered At The Moment.

Not to fear Xavier!

Peter has evidently made a design change or two, and as soon as he sees your thread, he no doubt will have the new 13 inch clutch in the mail!

I have a buddy who's stock clutch died about 6 months ago. He replaced it with a Southbend clutch. From what he tells me it was great until about a month ago he started noticing that the clucth only engages with pedal all the way out. He said that when he first put he clutch in the clutch engaged as soon as he started to let off the clutch pedal.

i don't know what to tell you. mine has been in my truck for over 25k and i have yet to have a problem. i have tested this clutch at over 600hp pulling a trailer, and i have had no slipping. i have slipped the clutch due to my mistake. once i was drag racing and skipped a gear and the clutch didn't like it to much. what ever the problem is i have no doubt that peter will fix it.

I know one thing, if you want a clutch that is the end all of clutches, you need the one Mike Ramos has in his Ram! It's a South Bend (?)... the one with the bronze/ceramic pucks.

You can kiss clutch slippage goodbye!

Hey Mike, fill in the blanks. :D

ALTHUOGH I DONT HAVE ANY EXPERIANCE WITH A CUMMINS FLYWHEEL/CLUTCH ASSY. I AM GOING TO GIVE MY . 02$. HERE WE GO A FLYWHEEL NEEDS TO BE MACHINED EXACTLY TO MFG. SPECS. , IF IT HAS A STEP MACHINED IN TO THE FLYWHEEL IT NEEDS TO HAVE THE STEP REMACHINED TO THE EXACT SPECS. THAT ARE REQUIRED(NAPA HAS THE SPECS IN THE CLUCH PARTS BOOK). IF IT DOESN'T HAVE A STEP THE FLYWHEEL NEEDS TO BE PERFECTLY FLAT WITH THE CORRECT (COURSENESS ?) BRINELL? THAT THE CLUTCH MANUFACTURER RECOMENDS. HARD SPOTS/ BURNED SPOTS CAN NOT BE MACHINED OUT , THEY WILL CAME BACK AS THE FLYWHEEL HEATS BACK UP. AFTER SEVERAL MACHININGS THE FLY WHHEEL WILL BECOME UNSERVICEABLE DUE TO THE THINNESS OF THE UNIT (MOVES THE CLUTCH DISC FARTHER DOWN THE INPUT SHAFT, MAKING THE ACTUATING ASSY. NOT AS EFFECTIVE, EVENTUALLY INOPERABLE). IN SOME APPLICATIONS SHIMS ARE AVAILABLE TO MOVE THE FLYWHEEL BACK TO THE CORRECT POSITION. HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE WITH CLUTCH PROBLEMS, JUST REMEBER STEP DIMENSIONS ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO LONGEVITY AND MAY DEVIATE FROM MANUFACTURER TO MANUFACTURER, AND MAY BE DIFFERENT THAN STOCK!!!!!!
