Is a slipping clutch, sufficient dis-ability? At 371,657 miles, I can no longer pull a trailer in high gear. Everything is stock, except lots of lift pumps, 1 IP at 275K and some univeral joints. Considering replacing it myself, but a little intimidated by the transfer case. Is it as straightforward as it looks? Transmission guts are al little worn, also. It bucks and sticks in gear, occasionally, but I love way this truck drives. Any recomendations? Thanks in advance-warren

The rear transmission support is a PITA (spread the frame with a porta-power or beat on it with a hammer) but the rest is easy.

Do a search in the 24v Engine/Transmission and you will find several posts/threads and step by step instructions.

I used a bottle jack and a 4X4 cut to length to spread my frame. Lots easier than banging on it with a big hammer.
