Sticks,

My wife would sure argue with you about the need for heated and ventilated seats in a truck. She doesn't care about all that "fluff" like HP, torque, Aisins, and axle ratios. As long as she's comfortable, there's peace and happiness in the truck. :)

I tried defeating the Hill Assist & Traction/Stability to see if I feel a difference. If there is it is subtle. And you have to remember to defeat the T.C. every time you start the truck. I ordered a Throttle Booster. They were on sale @ Rollin Smoke Diesel. Again I think that this is due somewhat to the TQ Mgt and 3:42 gears. I will give the TB a try

Yeah, the best anniversary gift I have given my wife (according to her) was heated seats in her '06 Wrangler.

I drove yesterday as well with the TCS turned off, and agree, if there is a difference, it's subtle. I do know that the tow haul mode is a MPG killer, that lasted about 10 miles before I turned it off. Not sure if that is another learning curve for the trans, or it locks out 6th gear, but on the highway at 60mph, she would not shift up into 6th.

Finally got a chance to try the exhaust brake today. Neat feature and thanks to sticks for the picture. I do much better with pictures and recall my teachers in school saying something to that effect. Again, no difference in the slow spool up but I must admit I have not disabled all the features at the same time mentioned and will try that next. But unless I have success, I will make this my last update on the issue. Or unless someone else has a question or input.

And my old hands are appreciating that heated steering wheel option in the morning. Where has that been all my life. It still is pretty cool here at night but I understand I have become a wuss in old age and need this or a good pair of gloves.

Make it your last update when the truck is right.

The turbo is electronically controlled for wastegate/VGT position, if there was a problem with it, the turbo position sensor (or whatever it is called) would throw a code. Your check engine light is not on right?

It's a 2014, unless you have been driving 24/7 - take it to the dealer and have it looked at.

FWIW - I just read your truck specs...you have my dream truck....Punk.#@$%!

No check engine light...yet. I noticed one other thing that may have some relevance. The Aison first gear shifts out rather quickly and the only time I notice the lag is when in first. After that point it seems much more responsive. This may be the nature of the beast but I have not heard anyone else mention it and it still does not explain why some trucks behave like this and others do not. As for the dealer, I see no point in going there unless they have some clue as to why this is happening. I do want to check with other dealers though and see if there might be someone who has encountered this problem.

Sticks...you are correct and I will update this post if I find a resolution.

Had to pass a couple vehicles the other day on the two lane headed to the big city. Lord have mercy this truck does that quickly. Went from 50 to 85 very fast and was around the two in nothing flat. Nice!!!!

Mike,

The TCS (Traction Control System) is subset of the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) system.

The button to control the ESC is located in the row of switches below the uConnect system.

Here are a couple of pictures I captured from the owner's manual and should give a rough idea of what to look for. The button has an icon of a skidding vehicle with the word "OFF" below the icon. I circled the examples in red.

The ESC has three modes...

ON (the default): Enhanced vehicle stability, engine power reduction, traction control, and torque management are all enabled.
Partial OFF: Enhanced vehicle stability is reduced, engine power reduction is disabled, and traction control is disabled. Torque management is still enabled.
Full OFF: All features are disabled.

To select Partial OFF, momentarily press the ESC button at any time.
To select Full OFF, press and hold the ESC button for 5 seconds WITH THE VEHICLE STOPPED and the engine running.

NOTE: Full OFF mode will revert to Partial OFF mode when the vehicle speed reaches 40 mph. When the vehicle speed drops below 35 mph, Full OFF mode will reenable.

See the ESC section of your owner's manual for more details.

Best regards,

John L.

I'd revisit the Electronic Stability Control again. If she is slow to respond in first, the ECM/PCM is limiting the power so you don't break traction.

TC...I am a bit confused (a normal state for me) after looking at the link and trying to Google it and come up with a company and products. Is wiTech a company? And is this a fix for the problem outside of the warranty? Not sure how to research this and given your admonition, not sure what the RAMifications are. Sorry..had to do that. In my search I was coming up with links to EBay so it must be a company but I could not find a link to their products or descriptions.

And to John L. I will try the esc again with some more extensive driving. Getting close to towing with this rig and that should tell me more about how bad this problem will be in that mode.

Exhaust brake should be in the same row of buttons as the traction control. It will literally look like a "Fart" button.

Your dash may or may not look like that, but the icons on the buttons are an internationally universal standard. Thank you McDondalds.

Really Sticks? No reason to have heated or cooled seats??? OR heated steering wheel??? DO you have a heater in your truck? No reason to have that either! Air conditioning? Well, in that case you don't need a truck, you can walk..... NO worries about all that fluff stuff. LOL

Great info.. I can't find more than a line or two how to do this in either the manual or the diesel supplement.
Likewise on getting into 4 low
Wonder if the people who write these manuals ever drove a truck?

WItech is the technology that Chrysler use to communicate with all their Vehicles. It trumps all other Devices like the DRB III and Starscanner.

RikDavis, I tried that 5 second button push on mine, it didn't work. Went to the owners manual 2014, but copyrighted 2013, and found JLandry's quote on page 526. But that page states that full off only works in "4WD Auto and 4WD lock. I don't have 4WD auto or any snow to try 4WD lock. The preceding page IMHO applies to my 3500 in that I only get "partial ESC off" when in 2WD.

I still view a pickup as a work tool, not a luxury vista cruiser.

Remember back in the day when A/C was an option, along with an automatic trans, power windows, locks, and mirrors? That is factory stock now, and you will have a hard time finding a truck with a manual trans. Some manufacturers don't even offer it anymore.

I tend to agree, Had I had a choice I would not have power door locks, power windows, cruise or computer keys, or even a tilt steering wheel and my truck is the bottom end model. If the government would allow it I would also forego the TPS, skid control and probably the ABS.

I miss the days when you built the truck up from the bottom and even the spare tire, rear bumper and towing packages were options
Not against the fancy options. Just would prefer to have the choice . To many potential trouble spots for those of us who keep a truck for years and hundreds of thousands of miles.

I remember when a heater/defroster was an option.

Yeah, I remember when the only way you could get a diesel was if YOU installed one. You have totally hijacked this thread. Why don't you go back to the 2nd gen forum. There should be plenty of NVH gear rowing lovers like you there. Your 6.4 doesn't qualify here

Now now, we are just poking fun at Sticks. No reason to be mean. I would have opted for the manual transfer case, but that "option" is not available in a Laramie version. I do enjoy the creature comforts though. At $65K, it ought to take care of me better than my Mrs. Ken Irwin
