Gents,

I just replaced my lift pump & there seems to be a small fuel leak there @ the input to the lift pump. I thought it was the banjo & got new orings/seals from the local dealer but when I replaced it today it kind of looks like its leaking from the Quick Disconnect. I wipped up the spot under it I will see if its still leaking this afternoon when I go home, but... ... ... ... .

It does not look like its leaking when the truck is running, only after I shut it off & I am guessing that the pump has a chance to drain a little back.

So my question is, is there a small oring in the quick disconnect that I can replace?

I had planned on doing the relocation trick with the lift pump & replacing everything with AN fittings, but I dont have the time or $$$ for that now.

thanks

Bob

I ran out in the garage and looked at some I have. There are two orings... one orange one and a yellow one. They look pretty thin and I doubt you could ever find them at a hardware store or something like that. Who knows where OEM's get half this stuff? Even if you found some it looks like you would have to cast a spell on them to make them magically come out. They are down in there and tight too.

I'd try taking it apart and back together a few times. If that don't help maybe some RTV where the male end seals against them. Just dont apply near the tip of the male piece or it'll go somewhere else. This needs addressed cause if it leaks there... its also sucking air and thats BAD.

RTV will not seal Diesel there, the last thing you want is a leak that will get worse at the worst time, worst place... . Murphys law.

If you lost one of the seals, the easiest repair will be to replace that line with diesel rated hose and clamps.

Its just a little drip drip drip, so Im not too worried about a big fuel leak all over the place, BUT I am a bit concerned about the air bubbles & such that it has to be leaking in when the trucks running. I suppose I will just cut the darn line off & put an AN fitting on there & be done with it.

I have Good fuel pressure & now that I have my gauges installed I am watching them very carefully (too much so probably, LOL).

with it on the truck its Right next to impossible to see so its hard to tell whats going on in the fitting itself.

some of the things on this truck are kind of surprising. Like why in the world would they add another fitting right there next to a Banjo? its not like taking a banjo off is hard or anything. Oh well, I gotta get over it I suppose, LOL.

thanks guys.

fuel leak

I had the same problem once upon a time. NAPA has the complete quick disconnect with 14 inch hose and also the locking pin/clip that hold it tight in place. The quick disconnect can be cut off and the new just add to boiling water until soft and slide it on.

Good luck!
