I've had a Smarty for my '02 for about a month now. Went through a tankful

on setting 1, the fuel saver and decided to try setting 0, 1/2 power, just to see what the difference would be. While it works and yes, my power is down quite a

bit, my 47RE shift and/or shift points are much higher. It seems to have moved the shift points up to 2500-2800 rpms, no matter how you accelerate.

It does seem to shift slightly better if I let off the accelerator at each point(like shifting with a manual), but not much. Is this just the way this setting works or is something else going on? I can switch from here to the other settings with no problems, so everything else seems to be working. 2002, 4. 10 gears, 47RE, 275RV injectors, 5" exhaust, stock tires.

level 0 for for emission testing purposes or for tuning down a higher powered truck

Level 0 is not really that great for a near stock truck for daily driving.

Half power on a stock truck = yugo type performance :-laf

Thanks for the quick response! Yep, I would say pretty low, but surely better than a yugo!;]
I guess I'll take it to 4 or 5; haven't tried those yet!
Thanks again,
jeff

What was the fuel mileage on sw 1, any improvement?

Just installed smarty , sw1.

Quite a differance in low end power, throttle seems more responsive,
And it's feel like I am controlling the IP not the computer, also seems to make shifting easier (6sd) I am able to match gear speed better .
Does sing when idling, high pitched diesel rattle. .

I plan to run a few hundred miles to check againt previous mileage:

20. 92 without smarty ,suburbs driving, lots of lights and some Interstate

RJWEST,
Sorry took so long to respond; too many hobbies.
My truck has never done very well, no matter what I do. I do mostly urban driving(not city but not highway). Without the smarty, I was getting around 14 average. With the Smarty on setting 1(and a 5" exhaust, and 275RVs, no way to change that) I got around 16(just shy). Before any addons at all, I got about 14. Smarty set on 5 got around 15. 5, but there was a little highway in there. This is all hand figured; computer is pretty far off.
I guess the combination of 4. 10s, automatic, and 4WD is killing me.
I've just filled and reset the Smarty to setting 3 for another test.

I tried the fuel saver last year for a day, and my driveablity was horrible. I don't think I gave it a fair go since my IP was on it's last leg and most of that day was spent in the Limp Home mode.

With my smarty on 9 I have seen a pretty consistent increase of about 2 mpg over my pre smarty mpg. More power and better economy what more could you ask for!!!

Towing 6K I gained 1MPG on SW3. Empty highway driving on SW1 also gained 1MPG. Not a huge improvement but I'll take it:D

The responsiveness of the higher softwares is unreal, way too much for towing.
