I have been experimenting with the smarty/edge comp box to see what combo provides the most power. I've found that the comp box works best on 5X5 and the smarty seems to spool up the best on 2 and 4, but seems to pull harder on 6 with 8 making funny noise when trying to spool up while doing a 4x4 launch when racing. I am curious to see what works best for everyone else who runs this stack? It seems that the higher the setting the smarty is set on, the more dead pedal occurs and the two boxes seem to fight each other and make weird noise when trying to spool at lower rpms. What your guys' experience when playing with the boxes?

I ran that combo for about 2 years, both around town empty, and also towing our 24 foot 5er. Around town empty, I ran Smarty on #2, and the Comp on 1x1 - plenty of power, and with the DE-fueling of the Comp on 1x1, smoke wasn't TOO bad - but if I went any higher with the Comp, I could smoke out all of the John Day area!

For towing in the flats, the same combo setting worked fine, and all but steepest hills were handled fine with the Comp nudged up to 3x3 - and RARELY was anything higher needed - and while stronger settings DID produce more power, EGT was slightly above 1200, and made me a bit nervous - and besides - who really NEEDS to top the Sierra towing an RV at over 100 MPH anyway? :-laf:-laf

Due to the limitations of that combo as combined with the unresolved smoke issue, I sold my Smarty - previous towing experience had clearly revealed it to be unneeded for my typical use anyway - and have now added one of DTT's neat new stainless steel intakes that seems to deliver nearly the same added power down in the 2000 or so RPM range as the Smarty, at half the cost - but without the smoke and EGT issues - time will tell! ;):-laf
