is there anything i can do to get a differant software than the one i just downloaded yesterday. it seems as if my power is limited compared to the software it came with. when i was in 6th gear before and mash it i would get a steady black haze out the exhaust and the truck would pick up fast, now the only way i can make it smoke in 5th or 6th is if i lug it and it doesent pick up quite as fast. i downloaded the moderate TM. is that the one that gives you the most torq or limits it the most?

I was having problems making power up top above 1800 rpm when I step down on the throttle. The silverbullet would give me 60 psi no problem but the truck just did not pull like it used to. I have went back to a previous version of smarty and now my power is back. What I am getting at is the newest smarty program on level 5 or 9 is very limited on power output compared to my old version. I wish we could have the transmission upgrades of the new version with the power output of the old version.

I SECOND THAT!!!!!! I love the way the 48re shifts now, but would like the performance and the smoke with out the timing rattle of the previous version.

Asking for the impossible? I hope not. ;)

Thanks, but he has the Moderate version... It is still not nearly as aggressive and smokey/touchy as the very first originally loaded program when the Smarty was received...

I think those of you who received Smarty after the standard shipping software was switched to the "mild" version may not know how the very first original software was - it was KILLER! When first installed, even on the 30 or 60hp setting, you were like "WOW!!" Smoke, touchy throttle, aggressive fueling, spinning tires... even on the lower levels... very cool!

The newer software has added a LOT of refinement, control, stopped surging cruise controls, and made Auto trucks shift better, but if you ever (even once!) got to drive the original batch of Smartys for the CRs with the very first software version - you would remember it! Awesome!

Just my $. 02 ...

I'll second that as well - I have been asking for it back since I loaded the first update. I have two of the exact same trucks with SMARTY's on them and never updated one of them (to use as a comparison) and the new software is pu$$y whipped compared to what originally came installed when purchased in August 2006.

It appears after my buddy updated his Smarty to the newest version that the same experience as above -

Not so much the lack of power off idle, but definitely higher EGTs when normal driving and/or cruising...

When rolling into it to pass on the freeway, getting to 1350+ is not a problem whereas with the older software, you had to really dog the truck to see 1250... Truck still feels pretty strong, and definitely no more timing rattle now, 48-RE shifts better too...

I know not all trucks react the same, and he has intake/exhaust upgrades, but is running the 30 or 60 hp settings on top of injectors... stock turbo.

Who else is seeing a fair amount higher temps with the new release?

Suggestions?

I am seeing the exact same symptoms - I hate this latest update - I even called Bob Wagner about this and never received a return call!

ON EDIT: - Bob Wagner called today and his area has had a power outage for a week now, they are just starting to get phone service restored as of today.

CRiggan - what version did you go back to (be specifice in the software file name/number). I thought that since Marco updated the files he had also added the DC updates and that if you tried to go back to previous software the SMARTY woud say "unknown software".

I found a copy of the prior verision in my PC's trash can.

Smarty S-04A Ver. 3. 07B, Data 2. 02B - Mild torque management increase - 101206

Loaded without any problems, runs great.

chris. curley,

Your saying that you went from Ver. 309, Data 2. 04 backward to 3. 07, Data 2. 20B and there was no problem?

I wish that Marco would have a running readme. txt file on his website that list which versions you can switch back and forth to & which ones you can't due to DC software upgrades that were incorporated.

well chalk me up on the list that experienced decreased power with the newest download... my smarty came loaded with 3. 07 mild and it was awesome, then I downloaded 3. 07 moderate and it was even better. Then when 3. 09 came out I downloaded the moderate for it and have been dissapointed... 3. 07 on #5 felt like more power than 3. 09 #9. I still have the 3. 07 download on my home computer so tonight I think i am gonna go back to that one and see what happens. I wasn't having rattling issues with the 3. 07 so it seems to be the one for me!

Yes, that is correct.

Went from Ver. 309, Data 2. 04 backward to 3. 07, Data 2. 20B and there was no problem

is there any way you could post it, send it to me in a PM or e-mail ver. 3. 07 moderate to me. im in desprate need of the older SW than the 3. 09. i hate it and im getting the "check gauges" light every now and then with it. gauges read all normal. thank you

If i remember right, you can go from the 309 version back to the 307 version but you can not go from the 307 version back to the origional origional smarty software if you had ever loaded the 307 version (i don't know the origional #) Because of the dc update.

I have several versions that I have archived (I download every update, weather I install it or not).

I have version numbers 303, 306, 307, 309 for all flavors (Stock, Mild & Moderate). But they are big files (15MB each). I could only post one on my webspace if someone really needs it. Not sure why Marco doesn't archive older version on his website.

I have directly e-mailed MADS Electronics/Marco tonight , since he has been quiet on the thread lately - I hope he has seen the latest issues we are having and just busy working on a fix.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply clearing that up for me. I will load version 307 tomorrow, just to get this ver 309 stuff out of my ECM.

The file I went back to is 307D 202B and works fine and I have all my power again no problems.

With that latest update, it had no mid/ top end.

Got an e-mail back from Marco and he is working on some awesome new stuff, he has asked that we have just a little bit more patience and it will be out soon - with a few new much desired twists!

well I tried to go back to 3. 07 from 3. 09 using the moderate software and i get an unknown software error... i went back to stock with 3. 09 updated the smarty using 3. 07 and then tried to load a new software into my truck and i got an unknown software error, so i am going to try to reload 3. 09 and hopefully it will work, so apparently on the 03s you can't go back to 3. 07

i have an 03 also, tried to go back to the 3. 07 last ngith and got the same unknown software error. this is going to suck bad if im stuck with this 3. 09 crap for a while. i hope marco gets it going with this. i know he is buisy working on the SW to get rid of trouble codes and reworking it for the auto guys so thier trannys shift better. i just want a full fueling software from down low to the top, get rid of TM all togeather and let your foot be your TM. he should make a SW for just manual trans guys and one for Auto Guys.
