I have an 06 2500 (see signature) I have a faulty edge juice which I have removed now and sent in to be repaired. I just think its a pain to remove and send in the box whenever there is a problem and in this instance the box failed the night before my wife was taking the truck on a 2 day trip through the rockies. ,so because of that the edge must go.

I have heard good things about the smarty programmer and as time goes by and my needs change I may be able to grow with this programmer (transmission upgrades etc. ) and yes I have gauges (just purchased yesterday)

Is there a safe setting I can keep the smarty on without fear of damaging transmission, lift pump etc. I am not a horsepower junkie just want a little more driveability ,for example I never had my edge juice set higher than 3.

Any and all input is allways greatly appreciated.

Yes the smarty can be set at lower settings that will help save your transmission. And after you have upgraded the transmission and fuel system it can be set much higher to realy have fun.

i agree the smarty would be a step in the right direction. i would not recommend running over sw3 before you get some transmission work done.

Towing through the mountains with 2k lbs on board and towing 5500lbs EGT's were down 200deg. So far, mileage is only up 1mpg. I've only had one complete tank empty.

Has anyone else experienced transmission slip yet? Got some last week towing my 8. 5K 5er over Washington Pass. Ended up have to keep it running at 2200 or higher to prevent it (OD off - tow/haul would not work). I'm running the Beta towing software, on level 1.

The Beta software has brutal torque. Coming back from Las Vegas two weeks ago, using SW1, I could mat the pedal at 1800 rpm in sixth gear and the clutch would slip. I understand that the final edition should have the normal levels of torque management. I'm using 4. 6 stock torque after market turbo SW1 right now, no smoke on bottom end. Drives like it has a hot V8 in it.

Mine slips without the trailer on anything above and including 3.

Stock 07 SW off the site.

Now that I put the 37" tires on, its even worse!

Suncoast should be on the way soon! Oo.

Yes with Beta 4. 4 even on level 1 empty. It needs a milder torque management setting when released or I need a transmission upgrade.

I would think it will be released milder, cause it was supposedly programmed with towing in mind. The majority do not likely have hopped up transmission's, nor do we want to spend 4K on one. I sent Bob an email the other day depicting my experience with it, and inferred that I hoped the above would be true. Havent heard anything back from him yet. Hope he's out towing his trailer!

Where Bob?

has anyone heard from Bob lately? I have sent him a few e-mails, from different addresses (in case it was a problem on my end) and i havent heard anything from him. Hoping hes out on vacation enjoying himself.....

Dfranks, think about what you really want out of a performance box. How important is on the fly adjustability? Which is more important to you: more power, better mpg, or smoke?

While the Smarty is definitely a quality product, it has two major drawbacks imho. No on the fly adjustability and way too much smoke on the lower settings. If the Smarty could be set to stock with the flip of a switch, then smoke would not be as much of an issue.

Not trying to bash the Smarty, just giving a heads up that depending on what your priorities are, the Smarty may not be the best product for your needs. I am very interested in seeing where the Van Aaken C5 thing goes. Just the on the fly adjustability back to stock is a big plus and if they can supply it with good end user software for custom tailoring the C5 programs, it should be a real winner wether you want max power or max mpg!

Tom K, how did you come about using the stock injector/aftermarket turbo program? Did it greatly reduce the smoke over the entire rpm and load range?

I've seen it posted as a cure for low end black smoke. It must slow the fueling curve to allow time for an after market turbo to spin up. The most I get now is a little tiny puff when you hit it that you have to be looking in the mirror to see. If I get bored, I may try the same with mild torque management. If the 4. 4 comes out with all the levels, I will definitely try it again. The 4. 4 I was using did not have boost fooling or extra RPM's and definitely got hot on the top end pulling hard.
