SM JR. on #3...finally

Well I finally put my SJ on #3. Whoooooooooeee. What a ride. It actually does not smoke as much as when I tow on #2 but it certainly has the extra HP. I like it. I am going to leave it there for awhile to see how it affects my mileage. Does anyone know already??? Probably if i can keep my foot out of it the MPG will be fine.

I asked Bob Wagner for a copy of the beta #4 and he kindly sent it to me. Thanks a lot Bob. Great customer support. Now I can not download it because I do not have the correct cable but will get it soon.

for those who update please use this as a basic guideline for updating.

Hello , To be able to update your smarty ecm tuner. Please follow these guidelines.

Start by right clicking on your desktop to create a new folder. Rename the new folder smarty.

You will need to download the driver to the smarty folder. Save the driver to the smarty folder http://www.madselectronics.com/downloadfiles/CDM_2.00.00.zip

You will need the smarty usb. exe This program allows you to update the smarty. Save this to the smart folder LINKS TO EXECUTABLE FILES NOT ALLOWED

The driver and the software programs need to be extracted into the smarty folder using THIS extraction tool. LINKS TO EXECUTABLE FILES NOT ALLOWED?download

Here are the directions for installing the driver http://www.madselectronics.com/downloadfiles/USBDriverinstallation.pdf

Once you have the driver installed you can use the smarty usb. exe program to update the smarty software. Click on the smarty icon. Press run. You will now see a seen button. Before you hit the send button you need to load a program into the smarty usb. exe. Click on file. Open , look in the smarty folder to find the smte file to load into your smarty.

Load the file and press run. It will take about 8 minutes to update your smarty.

Thanks

Bob

More towing this weekend on Beta #4, about 365 miles, from 3K feet to 6K feet, temps were mid-upper 90's and 80's. Towing a 18' TT weighing it at 5K and about 1K in the truck. (probably about ~14000 GCW) What I noticed. .

Smoke: Still very low, more in the lower rpm range as the temp increased, but still very very minimal. I would have been a train with the std software. I saw no more than a puff with this setup, VERY happy.

EGT's: I saw the far side of 1200*, only once or twice. The EGT's only go above 1100 in the 1400-1700 RPM range, where power is good but boost maxes around 18psi. Which is warmer than the std tune, but the timing is retarded and its not warm enough to even think about. Above 1800 rpms the EGT's are hard to get to climb.

Power: I really like this tune, lots of power.

Boost: in cruise control never went above 29psi, even at high load on a hot day at elevation... very happy with that.

5th gear, 55-60 mph, 2200 rpms, load from 40-85%, boost 10-29psi, IAT 118*-125*, hill went from 2650' to 4250' in about 5. 5 miles, some flat, baby down grade, and some STEEP spots. . EGT never went above 1050*

One quick passing WOT run, 50-75 mph in 5th gear... just a little smoke that cleared very quick, EGT got to 1150* then came down, and boost was above 30 but didn't notice, too quick. I was on a 1-2% down grade, but if flat moved out.

Smarty Jr. beta #4

Smarty Jr. #3 made my clutch slip if I got on it too hard. That was no good. I put it back on stock for a few days but then... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

I finally got beta #4 loaded into my Sm. Jr. and installed #1 on the truck.
A lot less smoke and I think more power than the old #1. I am happy with it now as far as power and smoke is concerned. Will try #2 in a few days.

Good job on the beta #4. :)

I am running the most recent version, or at least I think I am. :-laf Bob Set it up for me before he shipped. I have only run the tow setting and I love it! Power is great! If I keep my foot out of it and boost below 30psi the stock clutch will hold. More then that and slipping she goes in 3rd gear and up. That is when towing my 30' trailer with car and all supplies in tow.

I cannot slip the stock clutch with the truck empty. I honestly have not tried the ECO or Performace setting since I am so happy with the tow setting and how the truck tows! :D I can climb a large grade and keep it at 65-70mph and the EGT's still do not want to touch 1200! That is Awsome!!!

My truck is getting a SouthBend Con OFE today. I might try the other settings in the future since I will have the clutch to hold the power.

Smarty Jr on the tow setting will be even better when I tow next and not have to worry about slipping the stock clutch. Oo.

i had the same problem with my sr my clutched sliped on #3 with revo loaded. orderd my southbend dd 3200 a 12 days ago still waiting for it called rip and he said they were out of the pressure plates. sapoadly it was to shipout thur or fri csnt wait to git it.

This beta software is AWESOME. On #1 it is more responsive down low and only smokes a lot at WOT. I didn't mind the smoke but didn't want to get pulled over because of it. I figured the software would lower the smoke but cut its nuts a little. I was wrong. This feels like the other software (5. 03d?) on #2 untill about 1800 rpms. I love it! Its so good I don't switch to #2 when towing my boat (10,000lbs with trailer).
