I have been running the 40hp setting since I bought my Smarty JR. I noticed that it smoked some at low power. Seemed to fuel extra at low RPM. Today before my wife and I went into town to shop (25 miles), I reset it up for the 70hp setting. I noticed right away that it doesn't seem to fuel as much at low rpm. BUT get it into the torque range and in 4th gear, roll into the throttle and WOW! It smokes less at "Normal"

driving for economy.
Bob or Marco may correct me, but from what I have read
Level 1: Timing only... free power
Level 2: Timing and duration...
Level 3: Enhanced Timing and Duration. .
Boost Fooling in all three modes...
Here is a chart that depicts what happens with timing...
TIMING is:
RETARDED ( - ) ADVANCED ( + )
EXHAUST TEMP increases decreases
CYLINDER PRESSURE decreases increases
INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE
(BELOW P-TORQUE) WASTEGATED increases decreases
BSFC (brake specific fuel consumption) increases decreases
NOX (oxides of nitrogen) decreases increases
HEAT REJECTION increases decreases
HYDROCARBONS (HC) increases decreases
BLACK SMOKE: 1000RPM increases decreases
BLACK SMOKE: PEAK TORQUE decreases increases
BLACK SMOKE: RATED increases decreases
WHITE SMOKE: < 1000RPM increases decreases
WHITE SMOKE: > 1000RPM increases decreases
I have read a lot of people saying they have timing/injector knock at idle and under load at lower RPMS... . I would *guess* that an update in the future will change the low rpm timing to alleviate this, well I would hope so... right now that knock is about the only reason I haven't bought one yet.
