The importance of using a paper air filter

You could be getting one of the last ME softwares, as they are no longer available for download. Time will tell if it's permanent or not.

Did you verify with the seller that the Jr has ME loaded? Is it the latest version?

Well I took the plunge, ordered the J67me and complete exhaust, sinister egr kit. Some pieces already on the way. Here we go!!! :)

Have you actually been reading the thread???

Here is what Mads EMailed me in response to my inquiry about their ME (deleted) programming:

Mr X,

We are not currently supporting that software. We hope to do so as soon as possible, but for the time being my hands are tied behind my back in that regard.

Thanks,
Dylan

Although I think the factory emissions are in fact harmful and detrimental to the mileage on our trucks, hopefully you realize how big of a risk your taking with: warranty, future software support from Mads, and the substantial investment. My fear is they are waiting to see if H&S survives the legal storm that is coming for them. What that means to me is that they may never support the "off road/racing" software again.

Im real concerned about what type of support may be available by the programmer manufacturers in the future.

As you can see in my previous posts, yes I have been reading the thread. My questions posed were in relation to having backup software in place should the need arise since it isnt available from the manufacturers at this time. Everyone that has been here long enough knows that we must weigh the pros and cons of doing these deletes and make our own choices. For me, oil changes every 2800 to 3000 miles. 11 oil changes is 36,000 miles at 70 dollars each is rediculous. Not to mention constant trips to the dealer for EMISSIONS RELATED warranty work, **** poor mileage, and the greatly reduced service life of this engine due to the emissions equipment. I for one am willing to roll the dice for another 2 years (my warranty will be gone by then, I average 30k+ per year) I can not afford to replace a 50k dollar truck every 100,000 miles. I had 300,000 out of my 12valve and that engine was never touched for repairs, only routine maintenance. Had it not been for the Pennsylvania winters, I would still be driving it.

Sorry got off topic there and didnt mean to sound like a rant, but your post sounded a little patronizing. These things have a way of working themselves out. This isnt doomsday. Somebody with programming skills way beoynd my ability will sit in their basement and in between looking at porn on the internet they will find time to come up with a solution. The operating system for these programmers is already in place if you currently own one. The rest is simply software tweaks. I asked a simple question about being able to reload the software from a backup should there ever be a problem. I will be keeping all the parts that are removed, so the cost to go back to stock should at the most is a few hours of my labor to put it all back on, a few beers while doing it, and a tow truck ride to the dealer for a reload of the factory programming.

These guys will be back with "race/off road" programmers. Contrary to how it may seem with our current government, this is still america. The true "legal" responsibility falls to us the user, not the seller. They are sold with the disclaimer in place. They cant control what WE do with them after they are shipped. If we choose to disregard that, then its on us. They dont throw gun dealers in jail if they LEGALLY sell a weapon that was used by the buyer to commit a crime.

AH64ID,
Yes I did verify the ME software was loaded, was unaware what version though. After a long conversation with the dealer, I got some pretty encouraging information regarding the future of these type of products and we changed the order to the H&S. He feels H&S is currently a better tune for the 2010/11's than the smarty and he said the tech support is better. Not degrading the MADS product, just passing along what was told to me.

The off road/race waivers have lost in court before so I am willing to guess they would lose again. H&s must also since they stopped selling

They have stopped producing. They are still out there and still for sale. In all actuality, 99% of any aftermarket parts accoriding to the laws are illegal. H&S and MADS may not be producing at the moment, but the technology is already in place. They will be back. Different name, different look, same results. Its a moving target. There's money to be made and somebody will step up to make it.

If I had the ME software on my laptop, it would be copied immediately onto disc's, dongles, whatever... anybody possessing it should know they have a treasure.

Here's a picture of the results after deleting and re-programming with Smarty 67ME set at level 3. I know the overhead isn't accurate, but it was within . 8 mpg calculated. This was the first trip. 285 miles half freeway and half 2 lane through many small towns from central Arkansas to near St. Louis, MO. On similar trips before 14 was the hightest I'd had seen and it would calculate 12. 5 to 13. 2.

With 1700 miles on the delete I am getting the "oil change required" alert on the overhead. I reset it and it goes 40 miles before coming on again. It has done this twice after resetting it. I checked the oil level and it is on the full mark. The oil doesn't look dirty, dark brown but not black. Is there something in the smarty programming that could cause this? Is there a way to delete this warning/sensor?

How many miles are on the truck?
It sounds like the ccv filter change is due for changing. I think it comes on around 65k miles.

101795 miles. We bought it used with 84000 miles so don't know if the previous owner had changed the filter for sure. I didn't think to ask him about it when I asked how the truck had been used. He did have all the recalls done. When it warms up some I will pull the cover and check the filter. It's 29 degrees and supposed to snow.

I have my ccv vented to atmosphere. When I get that message, I just reload my tune with my Smarty and I loose it for awhile.

I wonder if Big Brother reads these threads... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... ? We might want to re-think our signatures.
