I've been following this thread form the start and it seems that this Smarty thing is quite the winner according to all that have posted so far. I know that there are many things that you guys have requested from Marco and perhaps he can work those into the Smarty upgrades in the future. I just wanted to add one more thing that I think would probably not be that difficult to add. How about a #11 setting that is a disable mode? I know it wouldn't be used all that much but if we were parking in an area that was questionable or had to leave our trucks for a while, we could load a disabling software into the ECM that would prevent the truck from running at all, and maybe even cranking if that is something the ECM controls. It could prevent any fueling at all, maybe just disable the LP circuit. It would be cheap insurance. Anyway just a thought

Now THAT'S an IDEA.....

Possible Marco ?

Not just the lp as there are a few of us that have mechanical lp's and the truck will start without the electrical lp.

Bob Weis

That would be a nice feature to shut the engine down totally and not restartable. The Smarty would fit in a briefcase easily. No wire jumpers, fake switches, switch sequences, just no VP44.

It would be just as easy to pull a few fuses from under the hood...

I HEAR you.....

Anti theft is not a biggie.

I could do, let's say SW #0, in two different ways.

1) Engine cranks, starts, runs, as soon as the throttle is touched, engine dies.

2) Engine cranks but no go at all.

Which one do you like most?

I could even have two different updates for Smarty availabel. One as it comes now with #0 half power, one with #0 anti theft. One could decide which one to load up on Smarty.

Thought's? :D

Marco

P. S. Just not right now! I'm swamped may take me a couple weeks before I can work this one out.

The Smarty in the gun case looks cool. Maybe Marco will throw one in for us 3rd gen guys for having to wait so long. :D

When you get to the third gens, I would like to see the #2 option -- no start --

Thanks

Dave

You guys trying to keep the wife from hauling plants back to the house from the nursery? May be a lowjack that runs for 5 minutes, and then stops and locks the doors, preventing escape! SNOKING

#2 No start would be fine.

#1 However, if it starts and then dies THEY would not leave YOU with dead batteries / bad starter trying to crank it.

#1 If you were going to be gone for an extended time period and a friend came over to start it to run it once a week but they could not go anywhere with it.

I vote for #1

Just some ideas,

Bob Weis

#1 would seriously put a damper on stealing it BUT they still can move the truck. 2 would be better, IMHO #1 would be good if it kills the truck if you touch the gas or brake.

Software NOT Required...

1 - Unplug TCM. Engine will start and run. Then it will stop.

2 - Pull Fuse #9. Engine will not start or run.

Oo.

I like #1 because it would confuse the thief more.

#2 they may just think a security system is in place and do further work trying to bypass it.

With #1 they may just think the truck is broke or if they realize that it too is a security thing, it would be a symptom they have never seen before.

I know that there are many ways to disable a truck, pulling fuses, hidden switches and all the other gizmos out there, but this would be the ultimate. It's in the ECM and cannot be changed by anyone but the Smarty owner. Nothing to lose (except the Smarty itself) nothing that a thief and replace or rewire. I'm not talking about using this when you go to the store, only when the truck is left for a long time or in an area where you are concerned with the safety of the vehicle. I would prefer a simple no crank, no run situation. The idea of killing the truck after touching the throttle is okay but if a thief got it started he (or she, let's be fair) may continue playing around with it. If it doesn't even crank that would be a deterrent to any further attempt.

If you disable the truck so it can't run. They would just strip it were it's at, or they could just get ****** trash it. Who would steel a Dodge anyways?

Lets here more about Smarty's Performance!!

Seem to be getting little of that lately. I'm using this Form on making the decision on buy a smarty or not. Right now I have an EZ, but had the older Van aaken box but sold when bought the ez. I feel that was a mistake now and cost me difference of 300. I don't want the same thing to happen but cost me the difference of 400 plus.

Thanks

Dan, the Smarty's CaTCHER program #9 will give you throttle response that will not disappoint you. I ran with an EZ before I went with the CaTCHER. The EZ worked well for me but after installing the CaTCHER, I never regretted selling it.
